Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.0.4 Build 20211021 Rel. 57494

Hello ! I just went through my EAP245's and was shocked to find out that the majority of them are losing packets, like this:

PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8): 56 data bytes

Request timeout for icmp_seq 0

Request timeout for icmp_seq 1

64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=2 ttl=117 time=16.405 ms

64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=3 ttl=117 time=12.990 ms

Request timeout for icmp_seq 4

64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=5 ttl=117 time=10.515 ms

64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=6 ttl=117 time=10.402 ms

Request timeout for icmp_seq 7

Request timeout for icmp_seq 8

64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_seq=9 ttl=117 time=10.822 ms

Someone complained that the video conference didn't work well. This would explain this.

It was easily fixed by just rebooting them. I had let them run for about 9 months. Omada Controller is showing no sign of packet-loss: the graph for drop rate was always zero. I don't understand why it wasn't showing anything.

The problem is, I cannot find it out unless I check them one by one in person. It seems to be a good idea to reboot them regularly: I will just find a chance when nobody is using that AP. Could anyone please tell me how often I should reboot them ? Once a month? I will appreciate your advice !

Can you confirm the signal strength of the client is good?  Also what is the RX/TX of the client?  You can see it in the client list, but add those columns.

  @KimcheeGUN

Yeah, I was standing in front of the access points, as I checked around. The signal was good. But it's the same: even when I'm in a place where the signal is not that great (-75dBm), after I restarted the AP, ping started to run flowless. I can't check RX/TX right now since I'm elsewhere, but I already restarted all the APs that had this problem, I can't tell anymore how it was before.

With that choppy ping, I did ran speedtest (with -75dBm), and it did get about 50mbs (when I'm near AP, it's about 80dBm)

Hi  @doremifajb

Does this issue happen on 5Ghz SSID?

I do not have an EAP245 in testing, but I suspect this issue is related to wireless channel.

5Ghz could have a better performance. You can create a 5Ghz only SSID to test.

  @doremifajb

I don't think it was happening to 5G, but the laptop that had problem with video conference wanted to connect to 5G despite weak RSSI as I went to take a look later, so I assume it was on 5G.

I had turned 5G off a few days ago, because of skyrocketing electricity bill. But now I turned it back again.

There are clients that want to connect to 2G (may be they don't have 2G, or they are too far for 5G), so I need stable 2G. For now I set up a weekly reboot.....
