Hello everyone,

Before to explain my problem, this is my hardware:

TPLINK ROUTER 4G/WIFI - TL-MR6400 v5 00000001,Firmware Version:1.1.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210803 Rel.55933n (192.167.1.1) avec 4G Bouygues 40go

TPLINK EAP235 WALL, V1 - Firmware 3.1.0 (192.168.2.20)

WAN1:

Static IP

ip: 192.168.0.25

msk: 255.255.255.0

gtw: 192.168.0.10

dns1: 192.168.0.10

dns2: 1.1.1.1

WAN/LAN1

Static IP

ip: 192.167.1.101

msk: 255.255.255.0

gtw: 192.167.1.1

dns1: 192.167.1.1

dns2: 1.1.1.1

Load Balancing:

Load Balancing Weight: 1 / 1

Application Optimized Routing: ON

Link Backup: ON

Primary WAN: WAN

Backup WAN: WAN/LAN1

Backup Mode: Always Link Primary

Mode: Enable backup link when any primary WAN fails

Problem:

I have a problem with the Load Balancing on my ER7206. My primary ISP is FREE.FR with Freebox Rev (Router mode); my backup ISP is my MR6400 with a LTE 4G connection. My primary link is breakdown for 3 days. My Freebox is alive but no Internet connection. The ER7206 don’t swap on the backup link automatically. I must unplugged the primary cable to force the backup link on 4G. Then, i have Internet connection. No problem with that. But when i plugged again the primary cable, the backup link is balancing on primary connection. But the primary ISP don’t working… I don’t understand, the ER7206 don’t check an URL or a DNS to validate the connection. It looks like the primary connection is always alive when the cable is plugged.

What is my problem in my configuration ; i have missed something ?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

  @nettb

We also facing same issue with this load balancer

Configuration

Load Balancing:

Load Balancing Weight: 10:10:1

Application Optimized Routing: ON

Link Backup: ON

Primary WAN: WAN,WAN/LAN1

Backup WAN: WAN/LAN2

Backup Mode: Always Link Primary

Mode: Enable backup link when both primary WAN fails

Problem:

We have almodt same problem with the Load Balancing on ER7206. The ER7206 don’t swap on the backup link automatically. I must unplugged the primary cable to force the backup link every time. Then, we have Internet connection. And not even load balancing weight working as expected. What's wrong with setup. Is there any bug in the load balancer.

Best regards

Eldeca

Have you tried this on the 1.3.0 firmware release?

What do you have the online detection set at?  Is it even enabled?  I have mine set at 30 seconds.

Hello everyone,

YES... i 've solved my problem.

I have modified the Online Detection on my Omada SDN in "Site section" with the DNS 8.8.8.8 manually.

The issue is : setting the mode as Manual, type in 8.8.8.8 on the Ping IP address, and set DNS Lookup as 8.8.4.4 for example.

So...

When i unplug the cable or when i disable the Internet fiber, the load balancing was fully functional.

When i plug or enable the Internet fiber, the primary is ok.

Bye,

nettb
