Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.3

The ER8411 can be adpoted by our on site controller but features that are avaiable in the 7206 are missing.

Primarliy interface PVID and LAN- to LAN ACL are missing when in SND mdoe on the 8411.

Are these features coming to the controller soon. We've upgrade to the 8411 to get 10Gb lan conections but running it in stand alone mode is not a long term solution..

Thanks

It is really amazing the feature disparity between the different routers on offer right now.  There's definitely no single IOS-across-6years-and-5-generations-of-iDevices going on here.  Instead we have an ER605v1 which is the clumsy, incapable and rather simpleton version of its ER605v2 brother.  We have an older ER7206 that's kicking the pants feature-wise off both newer and older routers in the product family.  An even the shiny new blazingly-powerful-on-paper ER707 coming next week, maybe, has fewer features than the ER7206 had back in January.  Makes one wonder a bit about who if anyone is minding the product roadmap

ER8411 has much less functions than ER605v1, in addition many of the functions on ER8411 do not work either, so yes your animation shows well how TP-Link works smiley

I had high hopes for 8411 and still do... Just waiting on a solid FW release with the "basic" features that I need.  VPN is the big one.

The 707-M2 is another one that Im waiting on... HOPEFULLY it comes out of the gates with more features than the 8411.

I hope TPLINK gets it together and assembles a group of Alpha Testers to help push production along better... an experienced group of alpha testers can give them head knowledge of what's expected in the real world.  Most Devs don't know that, they're just dev all day.

  @KimcheeGUN

Totally agree, now we're all apfa testers :-)
Unifi has made this easy, where you can press a button inside the controller and choose release candidate or early access to test what's coming.
Maybe TP-Link could do something similar.

I also have high hopes for the ER8411, it will be very good in a while, but I wish tp-link listened a little better when we report bugs so maybe it could improve a little faster. smiley

I have also ordered the ER707-M2, I know it comes with worse encryption on IPsec, among other things it only has SHA1, but I hope and expect that there will be an update on it soon. I also don't know when I will get this router. it is still not in stock. But it is a good router on paper for a cheap price.

so i cant wait till i get it, i guess it has the features of ER605v1 before 1.2.3 beta just a bit faster and with SSL VPN

@Bruce_A  I found all the features I need are available in stand alone mode on the 8411 vs the 7206 I swapped out but when joining it to the controller those features disappear.

It's odd that the functionality is obviously available on the hardware but not implemented on the controller. I'll just have to roll it back to Stand alone mode for the time being.

The 10Gb interface did make a huge diffference to our LAN routing on this unit so I'm not going back to a 7206.

@Bruce_A The only reason I can come up with for the continual and infuriating/ terrible mismatch is that TP-L has 4 (!) internal teams working on their Omada lines

1) Hardware teams

2) R&D teams

3) non Omada software teams

4) Omada software teams

It is at at least credible, can anyone from TP-L show an actual roadmap/ plan/ deployment approach that helps contradict this idle thought?

Can I ask you a question? What is the version of your software controller?

@Bruce_A Please find the below attached screenshot. The lastest firmware version of ER8411 is compatible with Omada controllers ver. 5.5. In other words, the features you're looking for will be functional once the new firmware is released.

@Michel03 I'm on Version 5.9, do I have to downgrade to make this work with the controller? I have latest available firmware on both controller and firewall, functionality that's available in stand alone mode is not available in controller mode.
