EAP-660HD US Is Using Wireless Mode while Wired
EAP-660HD US Is Using Wireless Mode while Wired
So i have recently connected a new secondary router to act as a backup in our office network, however when i did so, one of our APs disconnected and restarted itself, now outright refusing to use its wired uplink, worse it is now giving its load to another AP and slowing down the users of both. I have tried rebooting and readopting the AP multiple times with the issue not resolving and i am running out of ideas, any suggestions could help. Thanks.
Update: June 7 2024 (Philippine Time) - Problem Resolved itself.
After on and off tinkering and checking, found the uplink turned off in the switch config but it turned on again last night after i checked. Will Continue to observe from here. Possible reasons could be a cabling fault or an electronic one, both feels like reach. Thanks for everyones Help

@ATC23-IT-PH Can you layout a topology so we can see where the router was added? Is it maybe acting as DHCP server and somehow broken the wired path you originally had on that AP? Just throwing out ideas that first come to me. It seems obvious the addition of that router caused the change so the router settings would be the first thing I would check.

Hello, sorry for replying so late, unfortunately id have to make a topology as the previous admins were unable to make one, as for the router, what settings should i look for?
Edit: I have made a rough draft of our network excluding user devices, hopefully this helps a bit as the entire wiring network was installed before and no record was made for the topology.
The Firewall is mainly used as a Wan Link Manager, however i have to change the primary manually. its Firewall capabilities are basic right now, we still need to renew the license

@ATC23-IT-PH First I am unfamiliar with configuring a backup router but can see two routers, both set up as DHCP servers, causing issues. So on the secondary router, look in the configuration for DHCP Server and disable it. Alternately, you could physically remove the secondary router from the network temporarily and see if the AP issue gets resolved.
Also never rule out a bad cable or connection that just happened to show up at the same time you added the router. Try another cable even if it means taking the AP down and using a shorter cable on the bench.
Wish I could be more help. Give that a try and at least you can establish if the secondary router is in fact that issue.

Thanks, ill try removing the Secondary for a bit longer this time, also tinker with the DHCP config while im there. Will post again with the results

I know you said you rebooted the AP but have you tried forgetting it in the controller and also hard resetting it?

I can try that too, though hard resetting is trickier as its mounted directly to the ceiling so the cable is a bit inaccessible as it is unlabled in the switches as well

Hello same issue. This eap is linked wirelessly even after many hard resets, changing cables.
What works to make it wired? ;(
Thanks

@KJK
The Setting is gone on the Forced Mesh one, the other EAPs show that the AP is Wired and that there is no Setting for Mesh Use

@KJK Hi, when I disable mesh, the EAP660HD dissapear.
Million tries: Forget and hardreset > Adopt > ..... still wireless uplink. When device is forgotten, I can acces to its wifi.
I will try some older firmware upload.
edited - older firmware doesnt help
