Release Notes
New Feature/Enhancement
1. Added support for the following new features which were added on Omada Controller v5.9.
- Added support for shared bandwidth while using the "SSID Rate Limit" feature.
- Added support for IPv6 ACL/URL Filtering/Guest Network.
- Added support for IPv6 dial-up/Client address acquisition/MLD to unicast.
- Added support for LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol).
- Added support for the Network Check.
Select an Omada EAP and perform a ping or traceroute test to check the network connectivity.
- Added support for Packet Capture.
Select an Omada EAP, set the capture filter, and perform a packet capture for troubleshooting. Omada Controller uses TCP port 29815 to download the packets.
- Added support for Terminal.
Select an Omada device (EAP or Switch), open Terminal, and then you can execute CLI or Shell commands. Omada Controller uses TCP port 29816 to create remote control terminall sessions with the devices.
- Added support for downloading device info.
Omada Controller uses TCP port 29815 to receive the information from the devices. You can download a device's info by opening its Properties window, going to Config > Manage Device, and clicking Download. This feature helps to confirm the operational status of Omada devices and to perform troubleshooting.
- Added support for the "Lock To AP" feature.
Open a client's Properties window, go to Config, enable the function, and select one or multiple EAPs, then the client will be locked to the selected EAPs. This feature helps prevent a static client from roaming frequently between multiple EAPs.
- Added support for RADIUS username report.
When the SSID is configured with WPA-Enterprise authentication, the username used by the wireless client will be displayed in the 802.1X Authentication column of the Clients page.
2. Added support for some remaining new features on some EAP devices, which were added on controller v5.8 and earlier.
-
EAP610 v3, EAP613 v1
-
Added support for PPSK function in Controller mode.

Hello @Cozz,
Cozz wrote
Hi Fae. It was the Lock to AP. I had thought it removed however it was still active. Disabling the feature allowed the Nest to connect again. This is still a bit concerning however, as the Nest is no more than 2m away from the EAP615 AP and it would not connect until it was allowed to connect to an AP that was on the otherside of the house.
Thank you for your confirmation. Perhaps you may enable Lock to AP after your Nest is connected to make your Nest stay connected the target AP. If there is anything new came up, please feel free to let us know.

Has anyone been brave enough to test this firmware out on their EAP 610 v2s? I've been wanting PPSK support for a long while now, and I see that it's been added to the v3, but the only way that I'll even think about loading this firmware onto my APs is if the firmware is stable. I don't want to make my family suffer through wireless issues just because I want to play with a feature.

@EyeBrowse Just kidding, I did what I said I wasn't going to do and upgraded the APs anyway. I can always downgrade them in a pinch.
The first thing I noticed when configuring the PPSK feature is the attached photo. What gives?

The PPSK is not supported by 6GHz, please uncheck the 6GHz box so that you can configure the security with PPSK.
BTW, your EAP610 doesn't support 6GHz band, checking the box of 6GHz doesn't make sense.

@Fae Huh, I just read through the device spec and you're entirely right. I guess I misread Wifi 6 as 6GHz when I moved from 802.11ac to 802.11ax.
I'll disable the 6GHz option then!
Why is PPSK not supported over 6GHz frequencies?

Hello @EyeBrowse,

Why is PPSK not supported over 6GHz frequencies?
The limitation of PPSK (Private Pre-Shared Key) not being supported over 6GHz frequencies is primarily due to technical reasons.
In general, PPSK relies on a specific encryption standard called WPA2-Personal. The 6GHz frequency band, also known as Wi-Fi 6E, introduces new advancements in Wi-Fi technology, including the use of WPA3-Personal for enhanced security. WPA3-Personal offers improved encryption protocols and stronger security measures compared to WPA2-Personal. However, the PPSK mechanism used in WPA2-Personal is not compatible with the new features and enhancements introduced in WPA3-Personal. Therefore, PPSK is not supported over 6GHz frequencies because it relies on the older WPA2-Personal encryption standard.
To enjoy the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E and the enhanced security provided by WPA3-Personal, alternative authentication methods like WPA3-Personal with individual passwords or enterprise-level authentication mechanisms can be used instead.

May I know the following information?
1. What's previous and current firmware version of your EAP670 and EAP650-Wall?
2. What's the current version of your Omada Controller?
3. Could you please elaborate on the 2.4GHz issue? Are the 2.4GHz devices connected but get no network connection, or 2.4GHz devices are failed to connect on 2.4GHz band? Is there any error message?
