Model: TL-WR840N
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 4.19

Hello,

I have recently bought the TL-WR840N in order to use that with my 300Mbps home Internet, but when I set it up and plugged the LAN cable that came in the box into the modem on one end, and on the WAN port of the router on the other end, it only showed 100 MBps full duplex in the router Internet status, despite changing the ethernet cable with the one I use for my PC that delivers full speed considering it's a 1000 Mbps Ethernet cable, can you please help me fix this issue? as I've only bought the router because (300MBps Wireless N Router) was written on the box, it will be dissapointing if it's only able to deliver 100.

  @Golden729

Unfortunately, this router model is only able to deliver 100 Mbps via the WAN port and the LAN ports.

You might want to check if the place you've bought the TL-WR840N are willing to take it back and sell you a router with Gigabit Ethernet ports instead.

Make sure to read the small print on the packaging as well the next time you purchase something.

I'd like to add a note regarding wireless connections.

If you are looking to achieve 300 Mbps Internet speed not only via cable connection, but also via wireless, then this would require support of the 5 GHz band with 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi 5 (or better) on both, the router and the client device.
