Can you confirm exactly what model you have?  Is it an X20 or X50 4g or is it the  Archer AX1800?     Once I know that should be able to recommend something for you to work as one network..

Perfect thanks..  So in short ANY model of Deco will work with anything else, but only fastest speed of the slowest Deco.   

To explain that a bit further, there is nothing stopping you buying a cheap Deco M4 for around €40 but that is a WiFi5 device so will only operate at the slower 866mbps speeds, whereas if you spent a bit more and went for another X20 for example (or X50) that would connect at WiFi6 speeds (~1200mbps)

So yeah the X20 is a solid WiFi6 device, if you are asking my opinion.. in your shoes I would buy a 2nd X20 (or x50) and use that as the additional node.  You can then connect that as a new Deco node via WiFi or cable as either will work, although cable is always faster..

However, it now leads me to another question.   It did cross my mind to move up to a 5G box and use the 4G X20 as the extender.   But, back to your speed note.   Does that mean the whole network will only run at the speed of the X20 ?, or will the devices connected to the 5G box run at the faster speed and devices connected through the X20 run at its speed ?

Take the 5g x80 for example.   It's a lot faster WiFi but it's really not going to cause you any real issues in most cases

Yes you are correct, anything connected directly to the faster x80 deco will get faster WiFi, connected to the x20 slower WiFi.. however unless you are sending files across the WiFi between devices it's likely not going to be a issue.   The 1200 WiFi on the x20 is faster than most 5g connections can handle at present so it's likely not a problem for you.  The internet speed is nearly always the slowest bit
