Model: TL-SG1016PE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Is it possible to change the subnet of VLANs on this switch?

I would like to configure (for pro audio gear) to have a control network (192.168.1.1/24), and two audio networks (169.254.1.1/16 and 172.31.1.1/16).

1. This is an entry-level switch with basic features of VLAN(802.1Q VLAN). It does not have the subnets(AKA VLAN interface) like other router/switch.

2. You should look at the router model that supports the VLAN interface.

3. You should not set up a subnet of 169.254.1.1/16. For this reason, you may search this subnet on Google. It is not a valid private subnet for local use.

Old model, vintage way to set up the multi-nets like you ask:

How to build up a multi-nets network via Multi-Nets NAT feature on TP-Link router with L2+/L3 switches

On Omada routers. If you use the Omada routers, you can use the switch for VLAN distribution.

How to create multi networks and manage network behavior with ACL on Omada Gateway in standalone mode

It doesn’t look like your switch supports that. To set up VLAN interfaces, you need either a routing switch or a VLAN-aware router.

BTW, why do you use 169.254.x.x addresses? These are special-use IP addresses called link-local. Also, your subnets look strange. For 192.168.1.1/24, it should be 192.168.1.0/24. It’s not that bad in this case since the usable host IP range in this subnet is 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254. However instead 172.31.1.1/16, it really should be 172.31.0.0/16 since the usable host IP range in this subnet is 172.31.0.1 - 172.31.255.254.

  @KJK

The link-local subnet is what is specified by Audinate's Dante Audio Networking.  It is an AES67 protocol, and while it can really be any subnet, I'm trying to mimic a self-assigned IP architecture (the chipsets for products enabled with their protocol often have internal switching, and device-to-device will default to this subnet).  The primary network ports are 169.254.x.x and the secondary ports are 172.31.x.x

You're correct on the 192.168.1.0/24 and 172.31.0.0/16.  I mistyped.

All that being said, I can't do any of that with this particular switch, apparently.  I'm doing an international trip, in which I am carrying pro-audio equipment, and I purchased this switch for my home network (haven't installed yet).  So, I thought I might be able to purpose this equipment for this trip vs buying an Omada swtich.

The 169.254.x.x subnet wouldn't attach to a WAN port.  Think of it as a LAN workgroup.

Just make sure you are aware of what you are doing. If you set that for local use, and if you run into any trouble because of it, we cannot resolve it for you.

So, based on my previous reply, and what KJK said, you can start to find models with the right price for you. Omada routers are now all compatible with the VLAN interfaces. This switch you have can be used for VLAN distribution.
