Upgrade firmware ER706W failed
I recently installed an ER706W router with fiber optic and WiFi functionality. I am very happy with the device, but am having a problem with the upgrade from firmware 1.0.0 to 1.0.2. Both stand-alone and under Omada, the firmware upgrade gives an error message without any additional information.
Does anyone have an idea or better yet performed a successful update?
Unfortunately I cannot yet choose the right model, it is quite worrying how poorly TP-Link keeps the information about new models in order.

Hello @delpit and other community members,
For the issue that the ER706W failed to upgrade from v1.0.0 firmware to v1.0.1 or v1.0.2 firmware, please try upgrading to the following transition firmware manually first, then you should be able to upgrade to the v1.0.1 or later firmware.
ER706W_V1_1.0.0_Build 20230712 (Beta)
Notes:
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Beta firmware!
(2) You may refer to the following guide to manually upgrade your ER706W. How to Upgrade/Downgrade Omada Gateways
(3) After you upgrade the above firmware, you should be able to upgrade to the v1.0.1 or later firmware.

Hi @delpit
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Try the manual upgrade. You upload the file and let it upgrade. Or you can upgrade to the V1.0.1 first and then try the 1.0.2.
I think it should be fine as I upgrade via manual and it never comes to a problem.
New models would be best to use them on V5.12 or V5.13. I am using V5.13.

I have tried manual from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 and online, all fail with the same repeating error.

same situation with same results i got. I tried upgrading stand-alone from downloaded bin-files, I tried upgrading under Omada automatically. According to the sticker on the back I got a EU version, i downloaded the EU versions 1.0.1 and 1.0,2
i like the router, a little bit more information and support regarding this product that is very usefull for small businesss would be a great idea. The fact that I can't even select it as a model on this forum is already annoying.

So, both of you experience the same issue, please follow what's been suggested there and reply to your results here.

@Clive_A
Been having the exact same issue here. I've tried factory resetting the router and re-adopting a few weeks ago, after which I tried upgrading again. This resulted in the same issue. Using an incognito tab or other browser doesn't make a difference either and I'm not able to try updating from standalone mode at the moment, unfortunately.
Not sure in what way a Java version on my computer could affect this failed upgrade by the way, since the same thing happens when I try to update using the Omada app or mobile web interface from my phone. This does not seem to be related to the OS from which you trigger the update.
Are you sure the firmware update files aren't invalid, as the errors state?

Fully agree, the updates fail with the same corrupt error using webpage, or app.
My system was already running on the correct version java, also tried incognito and several different browser.
Incorrect update file and/or timeout issues are more logical, esspecialy because any other device (EAP or switch) are updated without issues.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Correct Java you say, which is 64-bit?
