Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.0.6

Hello,

I have had Omada EAP for the last few years (3?) and it never was "perfect" but kind of works.

Unfortunately now I have problems that prohibit me from using WiFi and I have no idea where to start with diagnostics.

1. My setup:

Home, 170m2, detached.

2x Omada EAP245 V3 with firmware 5.0.6 (when checking in the controller it says that this is the latest firmware)

1x HP switch with PoE (20w in total used out of 65w on the switch, Omada is using less than 4w so there is plenty of spare power.

Controller runs in Docker. V5.13.22

I have Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro SE as a router

No VLANs (all flattened) to rule out problems

1 subnet

2. Symptoms:

Dedicated 2.4Ghz SSID

Devices connected to 2.4GHz just drop randomly off the network.

They are more offline then online

The only way to get them back online (as far as I have found so far) is to restart EAPs. They will stay then online for short period of time and will drop off again.

They will reconnect at time but this is very random

Devices affected:

- Ring doorbell

- LED Christmas lights

- printer

etc

3. Troubleshooting:

Connecting 3rd party AP (GL.Inet in a bridge mode (!!)) Off the 5GHz SSID and creating 2.4GHz SSID makes it rock solid 2.4GHz WiFi. Of course that small router is too small for my needs

I have seen one previous post where someone had brownout and suggestion was to check PoE.

Help please. What could I do to get it fixed?

Thanks

Chris

  @ChrisColumb

Checking the signal strength on these affected devices, try doing some optimizations for your wireless environment.

How to optimize wireless performance of EAP products
