Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

I have a client with a static IP that is outside of the DHCP range.  Is there any issue with setting a DHCP reservation for it anyway?  (It would remind me that the client has a static IP).

DHCP range is .10 to .199

The client static IP is 192.168.1.211

I generally prefer DHCP or DHCP reservations for my clients, but this one was getting an IP address already assigned (192.168.1.49) to a printer.  I am certain that the problem is in the printer and not the DHCP server in the ER7206 router.  So the solution was to give the client a static IP until the printer is repaired or replaced.

it should work. you must restart the device that will have the IP after you have added the reservation

  @Clive_A Thanks for the links.

My problem device is an Epson printer.  I have restarted the printer multiple times, and started it with WiFi disabled.  No matter what- if the printer is turned on it connects to the WiFi as 192.168.1.49. It never asks DHCP for an IP assignment. It's acting as if the printer was assigned a static IP in the DHCP range, but that's not something I would have done. Ever. However, since 192.168.1.49 was not assigned by the DHCP server, a client eventually got the same IP assignment from the DHCP server.

My probably simplistic solution was to make a DHCP reservation for the printer as 192.168.1.49, and give the conflicting client a static IP outside of the DHCP range.  The latter is probably not needed but I wanted to get this client back online quickly.
