When enabled, the controller will remember the device. After device reset and power-on, the controller will automatically adopt the device if the controller can find it

It tells the controller which device to apply its configuration file to. When this feature is enabled, the controller will also remember the firmware version of the device and when the controller's backup file is used, it will check that the managed device corresponds to the remembered device.
