EAP650 2.4 Ghz problem
Hi,
I bought a TP-Link eap650 V1 this week and I would like to share my view and get your recommendations.
Environment:
My router is pfSense with a throughput of up to 825 Mbps (perf3) on a 1G line up/down.
The eap650 replaces my ASUS RT-ac86u (WAP mode) and have the same physical position
On the eap650:
2.4 Ghz Internet of things on VLAN20, Guest network on VLAN 30 and LAN for the primary network.
5.0 Ghz LAN on the primary network.
- Installation - easy / ceiling mounted in the middle of the villa and with AC/DC adapter.
- Features - brilliant especially the VLAN functionality. On the downside is the PORTAL function which for what ever reason search for captive.apple.com and dies.
- 5 Ghz radio - acceptable speed of around 400 Mbps 2-3 m from the WAP and good speed at 600+ Mbps on WIFI6 ax devices. The range is fair (10m)but 30% less then the ASUS
2.4 Ghz is the REAL pain:
No matter which device I use I have an average speed of 45 Mbps 2-3 m from the eap650 on VLAN's and LAN, and fading out at approximately 10m. Far away from the ASUS range of approximately 15-20m and 2-4 times faster
I have followed the guidelines here https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2511/ and I have very few low signal SSIDs from neighbours (2-3), but regardless optimised the eap650 to the best channel.
The 2.4 Ghz looks strange and concerning .... Are we talking about a defect?
