Hello everyone,

We have the following scenario: We have an ER707-M2 and an Omada OC300 in our data centre. The ER707-M2 makes a PPPoE connection with a fixed IP and thus allows the OC300 to access the Internet.

We have now installed an ER605 and an EAP623-Outdoor HD at one location. The connection to the OC300 is made via port forwarding. The external, fixed IP of the OC300 has been entered in both ER605 and EAP623. This also works in principle.

The ER605 releases a /20 network for guest access (configured in OC300). The Capative Portal is located on the OC300. The portal sometimes takes an extremely long time to load, especially on iPhones. There is a white screen for a long time. With Android it is much faster. This is really annoying for Apple users. Sometimes, however, it also stops working on Android devices. Especially when 10-20 people are already logged into the guest account. That shouldn't be the case either.

How can the situation be improved? Both the controller side and the AP side have a 1 Gig Fibre connection. Is VPN between the devices more performant? Or is it mandatory to access the portal via https?

Thanks in advance.

BR Tim
