I want to extend an existing network across a gap that does not have UTP or power network. So I'd like to use a Powerline to connect to an existing wireless network and then extend the network using Powerline to another outlet with a Powerline.

Is this possible? can the powerline essentially be configured as a wireless client?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Sorry, I got confusion about your need. As I know, no matter how many powerline units(wired or wireless function), the first powerline unit must be connected to your router via Ethernet cable, and other powerline units can be repluged into different power sockets to extend network. For the powerline extender(units support wireless function), you can connect wireless devices to it. All powerline units should work under the same powerline circuit.
