ER605 OpenVPN Only Allows Connecting Once Before Requiring a Reset of the VPN Server
I set up OpenVPN. I am able to connect once from my laptop. If I then disconnect and try to connect again later, it give a user authentication error and won't connect no matter how many times I try.
If I then log in to the router and disable / enable the OpenVPN, it will let me connect once again until I disconnect.
Then I have to reset the OpenVPN server again for it to work.

Looks like the original problem was fixed somewhere along the lines in an update.
I had to update to 2.2.3 before I could update to 2.2.6.
Might be good to note that somewhere on the firmware download page.

I noticed that there was a firmware upgrade for my device. I made sure to choose the V2 hardware.
Ii downloaded the zip file and unzipped it.
I went to the firmware update page and loaded the .bin file in the box.
I hit upgrade, said Yes and get this error:
I am not sure what I am supposed to check on the file. It is a zip file, so if it unzipped it shouldn't have any errors.

Make sure you are downloading a FW version which match your device's region.
If you are not sure about the device's region, you always can use universal (Global) FW:
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/er605/v2/
So long story short, not only version but also region of FW should match your device.
I had that "Update failed" issue when i was choosing FW which was from other region than my device.

@RaRu That is exactly the firmware I downloaded. I am pretty sure I would have an English or US region device. I am in the US and bought in at the US Amazon.
It still gave that error while trying to update.

Hmmmm, thenk it's hard to say. Your current FW is 2.1.2? Then maybe try to upgrade the device to some older FW version that the newest one? Like 2.2.3 first, then 2.2.6
I'm not sure, just guessing.
