  Hi @Clive_A ,

To answer your questions:

1. Is this the only device experiencing this issue?

No I'm seeing this all over the network. I'll add some pictures below

2. Have you tried to reset it and join the network again?

The wireshark data is captured when I power-off the deivce wait 30 seconds and plug it back in (that's the only way to reset this particular device)

3. I think you should reset it and try the Wireshark again.

I'll  see if I can fully reset the device back to factory settings and grab the data again

4. How do you set up your lease time on this VLAN 10?

See below, I set the lease time to the minimum allowed value (2 mins)

Thanks Pieter

Hi @Pjerrez

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Hi,

I'm having an issue which seems very similar to the issue in this thread (https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/581548) but on a different router. I have MAC based IP reservations and every now and then those reservations are just ignored by the DHCP server and it assigns a different IP. There is only one DHCP server on the network. I have this issue both with wired and wireless devices. The system has 5 VLAN in use. No errors are reported, the DHCP just allocates a different address out of nowhere.

This is very annoying because all of a sudden servers and IOT devices become unreachable.

Screenshots below are all taken at the same moment. The system show the correct IP linked ot the MAC but assigns a different IP regardless.

I've searched this forum, but none of the solutions reported seem to work, any help would be appreciated.

Pieter

What's your region? If you are (EU), try to upgrade to 1.1.1 firmware and see if there is an improvement.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/er706w-4g/v1/#Firmware

Deleting the reservation and disabling the Fixed IP, re-create the correct one, and make sure it does not conflict with any local device in regard to their reservation or static IP.

I might need a backup later on. What was your controller version again?

@Clive_A Thank you, I confirm I have received the email.

Regarding the open questions:

- I am in the EU region and yesterday evening updated to v1.1.1 for the ER706w-4g. Post update the problem is no longer present in the network, I just had to reboot some devices to have them receive a new IP. It is unclear if that is because of the router reset following the firmware update or because the firmware itself solved the problem

- I have prepare a backup to share with support

- My controller is OC200 V1.0 on 1.32.6 Build 20241101 Rel.41525

I'll make sure to update this topic with the feedback from support.

Thanks Pieter

The email will be followed up by me.

So, since the update, the issue has not occurred? If this is the case, watch for the status for a few days to make sure it is gone.

If it persists, let me know by email or forum.

@Clive_A I still have about 30 devices with an incorrect IP (so not the reserved one) in the network, but I think I saw in the Wireshark data that a reserved IP is given out with an indefinite lease. I suspect that when these devices got (or decided themselves to use) not their reserved IP the lease for that was also considered to be indefinite. I can clear these out by rebooting the devices, hopefully they will pickup the reserved IP post reboot.

Is it worth capturing the traffic in wireshark for any further troubleshooting while I reboot the devices above?

I will let you know how it develops over the coming days.

Thanks for the patience and support,

Pieter

@Clive_A sadly the firmware update did not resolve the issue. It is back now.

Dev suspects that there is an IP conflict in your network.

We need you to capture another file on the PC which is directly connected to the router.

Use Port Mirroring to capture the client which in your case is the IoT that fails to get an IP address.

We need to know at least two values:

DHCP and ICMP should be filtered in the capture.

  @Clive_A

I was on holiday for a while, but once back managed to resolve all issues by changing the DTIM period for all networks from 1 to 3. Posting this solution for others struggling with the same problems.

Thank you for the pro-active support!

This is a wireless issue then.
