I found a bug why user can share wifi using qr code.
I have previous voucher codes generated from last year and its unused. I have generated new voucher codes for this month.
I have 2 phones , 1 phone is connected to a voucher code that was generated for this month and provide a wifi qr code to scan and connect the 2nd phone.

The 2nd phone is connected and has authorization. I checked the client list and the 2nd phone is listed. I checked the hotpot page and go to authorize client, i searched the 2nd phone name and the status was valid then i noticed that voucher code that is using was the voucher code from last year which is a shocker why the 2nd phone got connected from the last year voucher code? Maybe thats the reason why the wifi sharing/tethering occur, if you have unused voucher codes it will be choose randomly and use it by sharing wifi using qr code.

You can try this locally and youll see what i mean.

Hi  @wickedcool13

Unused vouchers won't expire just because you create a new gruop of vouchers, it only has to do with the following settings:

 Hi @Vincent-TP

I believe you didnt get my point for this. Since i noticed it on my side, how about test it to your local side.

  1. I created 10 vouchers for testing.
  2. I used one voucher to connect Phone #1 to the network.
  3. On Phone #1, I generated a WiFi QR code for the connected network.
  4. I scanned the WiFi QR code using Phone #2 to connect to the same network.
  5. Surprisingly, Phone #2 was granted internet access without entering a voucher manually.
  6. When I checked the Authorized Clients section in the hotspot page, I noticed that Phone #2 was assigned a different unused voucher even though it was never manually entered in the voucher portal. The unused voucher becomes in-used status.

This suggests that the system randomly assigns an unused voucher when a device connects via a QR code, bypassing the intended voucher authentication process.

Could you please investigate this issue? It appears to be a concern as it allows devices to connect without manually redeeming a voucher.

Hi  @wickedcool13

Sorry for the late reply. Now I understand.

I tested locally with two Andriod phones, and I couldn't reproduce the issue.

When I use a second phone to scan the QR code from the first phone, I will get a login page to ask for voucher codes.

Did you test with different phones? will this happen on all the android phones?

In the meantime, I create a ticket for you to collect some more info, the ID is TKID250337122.

  @Vincent-TP

Ive tested with two different android phones and it works. You can also connect using mobile hotspot.
1st has to enable hotspot and already connected to the wifi network using voucher code. 2nd phone will connect via wifi using the hotspot network created on the 1st phone.
