Model: ER707-M2   Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.0.09

Good Day,

I've recently purchased a TP-Link ER707-M2 gateway router to use for the multi-wan feature.

I've got the device set up with three WAN ports. Two of these are connected to 4G modems, one to an ADSL modem.

The ADSL modem(D-Link) and the primary LTE modem(Zyxel) work perfectly but for some reason the backup router which is the MR600 does not want to connect.

Each of the modems have a unique IP and each are on a different subnet to my LAN.

If I plug the archer into my AX50 wireless router it works perfectly, if I connect to it via RJ45 cable with a PC it also works perfectly.

I see an error on the ER707 stating "failed to obtain the IP address for WAN/LAN3 because no response from the server." repeatedly.

All of the WAN ports are set up as Dynamic IP's and each modem has DHCP disabled.

Any assistance will be greatly appeciated.

" All of the WAN ports are set up as Dynamic IP's and each modem has DHCP disabled. "

If MR600 is not configured in bridge mode ER707 won't obtain its WAN/LAN3 IP address.

MR600 doesn't support bridge mode (Option 1) as per this post, thus enabling DHCP on MR600 should fix this error.

  @Xarsas

The default subnet of the MR600 is 192.168.0.0/24? If so, you want to change its subnet to a different one.

Omada router default subnet is 192.168.0.0/24 as well, which will duplicate on the WAN and LAN side, which will cause unnecessary trouble in the routing table.

So, change that and connect it to the ER again and see if there is a problem in the WAN connection on ER707-M2

  @Clive_A

Thanks for your reply.

As mentioned, the modems all run on a different subnet to the ER707.

I left the ER707 on 192.168.0 and changed the MR600 to 192.168.1

This is the correct solution.

With DHCP enabled on the MR600 it works like a charm.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
