Hardware Version: V10
Firmware Version: 5.15.8.12

Hi,
I need some advice!

An omada (5.15.8.12) based network (GW:Mikrotik, SW:8, EAP 13) was put into operation in April 2025.
The location is a country hotel, in a large area, in several separate buildings.
The hotel management would like to see which AP on the Guest SSID is connected to each event, when and how many customers per hour. This is interesting because it helps to see what the activity is like at hotel events.

I see data on the Wireless Summary tab under Reports on the management page, but this is not exactly what it is about. The other problem with this data is that it only shows the 5 most active APs, and the 7-day data is only visible in daily breakdown, but we need hourly data at the very least. We would also need data for all APs.

Maybe setting up a Remote Logging server would be good, but I'm afraid that a lot of data would be generated, which would also burden the system and the large amount of data would be difficult to manage.

What solution could be used so that the data would be available, but I wouldn't burden the system with data collection?
If the Syslog Server were the solution, where and how can I set the minimum required parameters in the Admin interface?
How could I get information older than 7 days, but at least with hourly data?

I am curious and hopeful about the suggestions!

Joe Tóth

Hi  @TJoe

Thanks for posting here.

The controller you are using is not the latest, all my answers below are based on the latest firmware version.

Please see my answers below:

which AP on the Guest SSID is connected to each event

>>We can't see every event info.

when and how many customers per hour.

>>>You can see this info from the following chart.

but we need hourly data at the very least. We would also need data for all APs.

>>> You can choose the all the EAP units, interval and timerange from the top options.

Maybe setting up a Remote Logging server would be good, but I'm afraid that a lot of data would be generated, which would also burden the system and the large amount of data would be difficult to manage.

>>>remote logging won't add burden to the system. It's a feature to send the logs generated from the controller to the server you configured.  The remote log records exactly the same logs as the controller (see below). Nothing else.

Hi, Thanks for your quick and thorough response! I will review your suggestion in my controller shortly and report back with my findings. Regards, TJoe

Thanks for the suggestions!
Unfortunately, it seems that I can't really get the report I was thinking of directly from the administration interface.
My idea was to be able to see data series and diagrams from several months ago, where I could see hourly aggregated data.
I'm investigating the possibility of collecting the data on a SysLOG server and using what procedure (filtering and summarizing) I can create my own reports.
Thank you, have a nice day!

Hi  @TJoe

Do you mean you want all these charts from the controller to be sent to the log server for archiving?

Unfortunately, this is not supported. Currently, only the Logs generated by the controller will be sent to Log files.

Hi!

That's not what I meant.
My goal would be to be able to compare or examine changes with 5-minute or 1-hour data months later.
For example, in December I would have April data for a comparison that contains 5-minute data.
For this, I now need to collect this data every week. If it were possible to automatically collect the data for a later analysis, that would be a good direction.

Or do you have any other suggestions?

Hi  @TJoe

Do you want to compare historical data? Like January vs. August this year? The controller doesn't have this comparison feature yet.
