Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 5.15.24.17

Hello,

i am using omada network with a few devices and the controller on linux docker server as container. (5.15.24.17)

It work perfectly, but now i want to use the Radius Server of controller for 802.1X control.

In first step, i had turned on the radius server in the global options (server settings). No server certificate is used, proxy turned off.

In second step, i had add a user with username and password for testconnection.

Then i want to test the connection with the freeradius tool "named" radclient from the docker server itself. Many users of freeradius use this tool.

But no connection to radius server is possible. No connection to controllers ip, an also with the localhost ip (127.0.0.1).

I had check the port of docker container. Port 1812 and 1813 are mapped on the container to each of them.

The radclient tool is used from same network of controller.

Any Idea why the connection is not active?

Thanks a lot

Here is a guide, this guide does not say anything about switch port configuration, but 802.x should be set to auto

Hi  @TobiSchu

The controller's built-in radius server isn't a typical RADIUS server, so regular testing tools won't give meaningful results.

Did you configure 802.1X auth with the built-in server?

Does it work as expected?

If not, please let us know your config and the issue. Thanks.

Hi  @Vincent-TP,

thanks for your message.

No, the 802.1X control dont work. Username / password and MAB with Mac in Username an Passowrd dont work.

Different types of clients cant get acces to the ports.

For test i used an windows 10 laptop and a printer (brother with 802.1X authentification EAP-MD5)

That is, why i used the tool of radclient.

Here you can find my config of 802.1X on switch.

Thanks

  @MR.S

yes, it works. Thanks a lot :)

I think double click activates the MAB on the Port ? Is this correct?

Selected port without the frame only 802.1X is activated?

Yes MAB if you double-click, I use it on an access point that is installed outdoors to prevent anyone from connecting to the cable.

The help text says this,

Yes, that's exactly my application.

Do you also have the issue where all clients over Wi-Fi display an error in the log?

Log:

802.1X Authentication Failed

[Failed]7C-F1-XX-XX-XX-XX failed to pass 802.1X authentication with the username 7C-F1-XX-XX-XX-XX because RADIUS access-request-response times out.

The Client 7C-F1.... is connected over Wi-Fi

  @MR.S

Thank you for the link.

Unfortunately, I only got around to testing the guide yesterday.

I had some setting wrong in the 802.1x control but everything works now.
