Model: Archer AX18   RE500X  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.22 Build 20240311 Rel. 73956(4555)

I recently purchased a new Archer AX18 and a RE500X. I connected the devices with an ethernet cable to my network. When im connected to the wifi and ping other hosts on the lan or the internet I usually get a ping that is around 6 ms higher compared to my other routers and APs. I tried to factory reset the devices, but it didn't help. I get a normal ping when im connected via ethernet to the AX18 and when wmm is disabled.

 

Any help is appreciated!

From a numerical point of view, 6ms is a relatively small range of changes, which generally will not significantly affect most applications (such as web browsing, video streaming).

Here are some suggestions for comparative testing:

  • Eliminate test errors
  1. Use the same test tool (such as ping, speedtest) and the same target server.
  2. Test multiple times in the same period (avoid interference during peak hours).
  • Check local devices
  1. Restart the router and optical modem.
  2. Confirm that the network cable/interface is not faulty (such as a wired connection).
  3. Close background applications that occupy bandwidth (such as cloud synchronization, update downloads).
