Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20231207 Rel.61384

A couple of days ago 07/17/2025, my ER605 V1 has suddenly gotten stuck at a provisioning/adopting loop.  It fails and I get a notification that the gateway has disconnected. I tried force provisioning to no avail. I am using a hardware controller that is remote from the ER605 V1. Here is the first log entry of the failure:

Gateway  was disconnected.
Jul 17, 2025 04:09:55 am

The log entry prior to the disconnect failure is the following:

Gateway  detected TCP SYN-and-FIN packets attack and dropped 1 packets.

As far as I can tell, the gateway is still functioning. My site-to-site VPN for example is still responding. I am accessing the remote network where the ER605 V1 is located from another location via SSH just fine.

  @t3knoid

The communication is blocked somehow between the controller and the router. That's why it is not working.

Reboot the device to see if it can reconnect to the controller.

There is no fancy way to fix it. The problem is more of a communication problem. So, that's the direction you need to dive in.

Adopting does not mean it is working. The current status is a legacy of the previous status. You have to make sure both ways can communicate properly before another adoption.

And yeah, you have to identify your way to remotely adopt the router.

What should I do when Omada Gateway adopt fails

What should I do when the Omada Controller (V4) fails to adopt the devices?

  @Clive_A

Thanks for your response. I SSH into one of the VMs of the network with the failed gateway. I performed the following curl command to check for connectivity to the controller (I checked to make sure that ports are forwarded properly on the network where the controller is located).

curl -k http://<remote_ip_address>:8088

This appears to work. Albeit, curl shows no output, but it did not show a connection error.

I can't find a way to reboot the gateway remotely. Here's what I tried:

- scheduled a reboot of failed gateway from the Omada software

- manually perform a reboot of failed gateway

I suspect neither worked since the device has not been adopted.

I tried connecting to the gateway using SSH in hopes to reboot from the gateway terminal, but the connection was refused. Telnet yielded the same result.

Is there another way to connect to this device remotely? Getting physical access is a challenge so having a way to resolve this remotely is best.

I just noticed that the other devices in that network shows a “Controller Connection IP” setting set to the WAN IP address of that network, not the WAN IP address of the remote controller. Is that normal?
