Firmware Version:

Have a EAP673 unit working on POE

No issues setting up, Wi-Fi speeds all good, BUT doenload speed is shocking

I have a EAP225 unit that works perfect, I am expanding the network.

Cables are all ok, I have connected in place of my EAP225 and same results, any advise before it becomes aa frisby

Hi  @Vinuela

Thanks for posting here.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to identify the issue:

1. Verify the AP's Firmware

   - Check if the new AP has the latest firmware installed. Outdated firmware can cause performance issues.

2. Test with a Different Cable (Even if Current One Works)
   - Sometimes, a cable may pass a basic continuity test but still have issues (e.g., poor shielding, crosstalk).
   - Try a known-good Cat5e/Cat6 cable (preferably a short one for testing).

3. Check for Network Congestion or QoS Settings
   - If your router has QoS (Quality of Service) enabled, it might be throttling the new AP.
   - Disable QoS temporarily to test.

4. Test with a Direct Connection (Bypass Switch)
   - Connect the new AP directly to the router (bypassing any switches or intermediate devices) to rule out switch-related issues.

5. Compare Speeds via Wired Connection
   - Connect a laptop/PC directly via Ethernet to the same port where the AP is connected.
   - Run a speed test (e.g., speedtest.net, fast.com) to see if the issue is with the network or the AP itself.

6. Check for Interference or Channel Overlap
   - If the new AP is broadcasting on the same channel as nearby APs, interference can slow it down.
   - Use a Wi-Fi analyzer tool (e.g., WiFi Analyzer on Android, NetSpot on PC) to check channel congestion.

How to optimize wireless performance of EAP products

7. Factory Reset the New AP
   - If all else fails, perform a **factory reset** on the new AP and reconfigure it from scratch.

8. Verify the AP's Power Source (If Using PoE)
   - If the AP is powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet), ensure the switch/injector provides enough power.
   - Some APs may throttle performance if underpowered.

9. Test with a Different Device
   - Try connecting a different device (e.g., laptop, phone) to the new AP to rule out client-specific issues.

Let me know if you need help with any specific step!
