Hey everyone, hoping someone can help me out! đź‘‹

I’m with Cuckoo Internet and have a 900 Mb fibre connection. I’ve got my PPPoE username and password, which I’m using with my third-party router (TP-Link Archer AX72 Pro).

The weird part is:

  • When I use my Eero router, I get the full 900 Mb speed with no issues.
  • When I switch to the TP-Link router, it connects but the speed is much lower 90Mb (or doesn’t seem to handle the full connection properly).
via WiFi and Hardwired using brand new Cat6

I’ve used this TP-Link router before with other ISPs and never had this issue, so I’m a bit stuck on what might be wrong — could it be something with MTU settings, PPPoE config, or compatibility with Cuckoo’s setup?

Any advice, settings tweaks, or similar experiences would be super appreciated! 🙏

Hello@M1GHTYB34R ,

Welcome to our community.

When testing the speed of the AX72 Pro, is it connected to the modem directly?

Here are some suggestions that may help you:
    1) Try using different Ethernet cables (CAT5E or above) between the router and your PC, and between the router and your modem.
    2) Log in to the web interface of the router (http://tplinkwifi.net), go to Advanced > QoS, and make sure QoS is disabled.
    3) Open the Tether app, go to Parental Control, ensure no parental control profile is configured.
    4) If wireless speed is slower than expected, go to the web interface > Advanced > Wireless Settings to change the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel, test different channels to find the best one for your environment.
    5) Go to the web interface > Advanced > NAT Forwarding > UPNP to disable UPNP, and go to Advanced> Security to disable SIP ALG. These features may affect Wi-Fi performance and speedtest results.

Best Regards.
