Feature Request: Bandwidth Management per PPSK User

Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version:

Hello TP-Link Omada Team,

I would like to request a new feature in the Omada SDN Controller — the ability to assign bandwidth limits (upload/download) per PPSK user.

Currently, PPSK allows unique passwords and VLAN assignment for each user, but all users share the same SSID bandwidth policy.
Adding an individual bandwidth control field in the PPSK settings would give admins finer control and prevent heavy users from consuming excessive bandwidth.

Why It’s Useful

  • Ensures fair bandwidth distribution among PPSK users

  • Ideal for hotels, offices, schools, and guest networks

  • Works perfectly with existing VLAN-based isolation

Suggested Implementation

When editing a PPSK entry, include an optional field like:

Bandwidth Limit: Upload (Mbps) / Download (Mbps)

Omada & VIGI | Using at 4 Locations | Controller: V6.0.0.23 (Linux) | GW: ER7206 | SW: SG2428P & SG2210P | APs: 2 × EAP610 | WAN: Jio&Airtel | NVR2016H.

Hello, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community. We appreciate all your feedback and feature requests here.

While we don't have any specific details to share regarding whether the feature can be implemented, I'll ensure that I log this feature request and pass it along to the team.
Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have; we’d be happy to send them up for you.

Cant you achieve exactly this by

- remove the overall SSID rate limit

- Add a gateway bandwidth control per vlan used in the PPSK

 Hi @GRL ,

Yes, that approach can work partially — using VLAN-based bandwidth control on the gateway for PPSK-assigned VLANs. However, it doesn’t fully address the scenario where multiple PPSK users share the same VLAN but still require individual rate limits.

For example:

  • In hotels or offices, PPSK is often used for user isolation on the same VLAN for ease of management.

  • Applying bandwidth control per VLAN affects everyone in that VLAN equally, not per PPSK user.

That’s why per-user (per PPSK) bandwidth control directly at the controller or AP level would provide more precise and fair management, especially when dealing with many users under a shared VLAN.

So while VLAN-level rate limits are a good workaround, native per PPSK bandwidth control would be a much cleaner and scalable solution.
