Issue with Controller Topology Map
Friday - last edited Sunday
Model: OC300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.31.9 Build 20251027 Rel.71780

I just finished setting up a separate management VLAN (10) for the controller, switches, and APs.  In the devices list, the gateway is still displayed with its default address (192.168.0.1) but the rest of the devices are displayed with their 192.168.10.x addresses.  So far, OK.

In viewing the topology map, if I select any VLAN under Network Filter then all the devices and clients associated with that VLAN are highlighted.  However, when I select the Mgmt (10) VLAN, the controller and the APs are not highlighted, only the gateway and switches are highlighted.  Is this normal?  The only changes here have been adding the management VLAN and upgrading the controller firmware (only a few minutes ago).

Update (02-11-25):

After several issues with other VLANs not connecting properly to the internet, I have gone back to using the default VLAN as the management VLAN.  I did, however, make one change by changing the VLAN ID from 1 to 10.  Everything is working smoothly now.  I still have a problem with the topology map which I did not have before upgrading the controller firmware.  If I select the Mgmt (Default) VLAN, everything on that VLAN is highlighted except the controller and my EAP610.  The EAP650-Desktop APs are highlighted OK.  Additionally, when hovering the mouse over the controller, the Model and IP Address are no longer displayed, only its MAC address.  Perhaps the limited info on the controller is something new in the latest firmware update.  The EAP610 does show everything correctly.  Both the controller and the EAP610 are definitely on the default VLAN and I believe that both should be highlighted.  Attached is a snapshot.  Everything has been force provisioned and rebooted several times but the issue continues.  I have even waited overnight to see if things would clear up but there has been no change.  It is not a big issue but it is something that needs corrected.

Thats odd

I have 9 vlans, all of them correctly highlight where they are active.  Management vlan everywhere, the rest jsut where i allow them to traverse switches / access ports and SSIDs

I dont have any issues on remote sites either where management vlans are in the 172.2X ranges and all VLAN IDs are different (eg 210, 220 on two different sites) - everything is highlighted where it should be

Have you got LLDP and EAP LLDP enabled?

Thank-you for responding.  LLDP and EAP LLDP are enabled.  What is strange is that the most downstream EAP650 displays correctly but the EAP610 does not.  Another odd thing is that if I go to Network Config, Network Settings, LAN, and then edit the VLAN, on the second screen all of the devices are highlighted correctly.

WAIT UP

I see this now, and you are indeed correct!

In topology screen, management network is not highlighted on my EAPs

In network edit screen it is also not highlighted

However - Im not sure this is a bug or somewhat intentional.  If you select a network associated with a SSID it highlights them correctly, i think its intended to show where endpoints (access ports / SSIDs) are directly on a vlan.  I think for everything not-management vlan this is correct.  I think the management vlan has been incorrectly included in this "filter" for EAPs

It appears that none of your EAPs are highlighted.  In my case, 1 EAP is not highlighted and the rest are.  I believe everything was OK before I upgraded the controller version to the latest V6, otherwise it would have caught my attention.  The controller, for sure, used to be highlighted on the management VLAN but now it is never highlighted in the topology map.
