Model: EAP215-Bridge KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4

Apologies in advance if I get this explanation wrong .

I have set up an EAP 215 at the host location to share internet with a neighbor. (across boundaries so cant run CAT 6 cable) and I use the OMADA cloud software on my phone for configuration.

Host

EAP215

EAP225 - Plugged into modem

Client

EAP215

EAP225 hardwired into EAP215

All firmware is up to date.

Installation is around 6 months old

At the Host location is an EAP 215 with a EAP225 plugged into the house modem - FTTP. The EAP 225 works with no issues and is stable.

Between locations is less than 100m and visibile, no obstructions

The Host EAP215 changes status from connected to isolated  resulting in no internet at the client EAP215 which means it is also Isolated and an additional EAP225 that plugs into the client  EAP215 obviously looses connection as well. When this was first installed it was fairly stable and no issues. Possibly it is configuration or I have altered something and made it worse. It can run for near 24 hours before the connection drops out.

I was on the phone to TPlink for an hour and they believe this issue is the cat 6 running to the host EAP215. This has been ordered to be replaced in a few days.

I am also going to do a hard reset on all devices and repeat the installation process as well.

My questions are this.

Do i have the devices physically connected in the best manner.

Should the host EAP 215 have the EAP225 plugged into it instead.

Is there anything obvious you can see I have missed.

Thanks in advance

Todd

Hi  @Todd2024

EAP products are basically plug-and-play, no need extra config to make them work.

Based on your scenario, here is the recommended installation:

house modem ---- EAP225---EAP215_1 ))) ((( EAP215_2 --- EAP225

Note:

--- Ethernet connection

)))((( wireless connection.

Anything unclear, let me know. Thanks.

Hi @Todd2024,

I wouldn't plug the EAP225 into the EAP215; no need to make an extra hop.  Also, it's odd that your cable failed.  Not sure what type of cable you had and the weather conditions there, but you may want to use an outdoor rated cable for the portion of the run going to the EAP215 that is outside if you're not already.
