Model: EAP603-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

To the relevant development or support team,

I am writing to formally request the integration of recent performance optimizations from the EAP225-OD's latest build into the firmware for the EAP603-OD access points.

We are currently experiencing significant network instability and poor performance on the EAP603-OD devices, manifesting as:

High Latency/Ping Spikes: Users are consistently reporting excessive ping times.

Frequent Signal Drops: Wireless connections are unstable, leading to constant disconnections.

These issues persist even when the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are deployed using separate Service Set Identifiers (SSIDs).

Observed Solution (EAP225-OD Benchmark)

The EAP225-OD units, when handling a similar user load (under 30 clients), do not exhibit these ping or stability issues. This suggests the EAP225-OD's recent firmware contains critical performance improvements that are currently missing in the EAP603-OD build.

Network Environment Context

For your information, our deployment environment uses a multiple AP (VLAN) configuration managed by a MikroTik switch with FastTrack enabled to ensure optimized switching/routing performance. The issue is therefore isolated to the EAP603-OD's wireless performance.

Request

We urge you to port the stability and performance fixes/optimizations from the EAP225-OD's latest firmware to the EAP603-OD firmware as soon as possible to resolve these critical issues.

Thank you,

Hi  @MC_gege

Thanks for posting here and providing detailed feedback regarding the performance issues with your EAP603-OD.

Regarding Your Suggestion

We understand your proposal to port optimizations from the EAP225-OD firmware to resolve the EAP603-OD issues. However, we would like to clarify that the EAP225-OD and EAP603-OD differ significantly in hardware architecture, RF modules, and underlying drivers. As a result, firmware optimizations cannot be directly transferred between these models. The stability issues you are experiencing with the EAP603-OD may be related to your network environment or other configuration factors rather than a simple absence of firmware features.

Recommendations

To promptly address your concerns, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Ensure your EAP603-utdoor is running the latest firmware version. What's more, we are planning to release a new firmware for EAP603-outdoor recently, please pay attention to it.

  2. Wireless Interference Check: Use tools like WiFi Analyzer to examine channel utilization on the 2.4GHz/5GHz bands and manually switch to less congested channels.

here are some guides: Interference Detection on Omada 6.X and above    How to optimize wireless performance of EAP products
  3. If the above steps do not resolve the problem, please contact support team to get faster help.

  @Vincent-TP

Hi I believe im on the recent firmware since the Download page was blank and no other latest firmwares are available even in the omada app firmware update.

2nd, im the only one using the wifi6 access point and no interference were detected by the omada app/wifiman (wifi analyzer)

3rd, what i mean to port optimizations from eap225 is to improve its compatibility and stability to all phones since we are encountering constant disconnection from the access point especially 5Ghz band, bunlike when I was with the eap225

Ill just wait for an update then.

Thanks so much for addressing the my issue.
