Model: RE220
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.3

This is making me tear my hair out and I have not resolved the issue, hoping a wise sage make point me in the right direction.

I have an Archer AX55 and wanted to create an EasyMesh network. I got a RE220 3.0, fw 1.1.0, it has set up like a dream and is now the RE220 "satellite" to the Archer "main".

I decided I needed another satellite for another part of the house so invested in a second RE220 but I have now found out in is a RE220 v2.0, fw 1.0.3. (Renamed as RE220K so I know which is which). This one, although it has the setting for Easymesh and I have ticked the box in settings, it refuses to be a satellite in the EasyMesh set up. It remains a Cloud device.

All firmware is latest version, everything has been rebooted multiple times.

Is there a compatibility problem? Am I an idiot and missing something? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Hi,

This could be a glitch in the Tether app.

To be sure I recommend you log into the Archer AX55 and check directly within its "EasyMesh" menu. (like below)

@woozle Thanks for info, have tried and still no luck   Have used Tether on iOS and MacOS. Have accessed via web pages and no joy.

I have now invested another £8 on another v3 on Vinted, will see if that works and I will report back.

Ok. If you get another V3, then it should certainly behave like the V3 you already have.

By the way, does the web interface of the RE220 V2 say that "The current host router does not support OneMesh", like shown in the screenshot below?

@woozle I think I have found the problem. v2 is Onemesh, v3 is Easymesh. Easy to miss and I did. I expect you can only run one type of mesh setup at a time. Will confirm when my second v3 arrives.

Router models that support OneMesh as well as EasyMesh can definitely handle both types of devices simultaneously. In the screenshot I posted three posts above I had an EasyMesh RE450 and a RE305 with OneMesh firmware connected to an Archer AX55 V1.

Is your Archer AX55 also hardware version "Ver:1.0" or is it a newer version?
