Tp-link archer c20
Model : C20
Hardware Version : V4
Firmware Version : Archer C20(EU)_V4_161130
---
If you change the 5 GHz channel does it real change? No matter witch channel I select for 5 GHz my phone channel scanner shows 42 channel. At the same channel I can see another wi-fi router device. All neighbor channels are free of use and router can't change the channel (or my scanner doesn't
recognize it)

Error report: C20 with new firmware
2017-10-05 01:39:20 - last edited 2021-06-28 06:28:46
Model : C20
Hardware Version : V4
Firmware Version:: 0.9.1 4.16 v0001.0 Build 170822 Rel.41366n
Hardware Version: Archer C20 v4 00000004
1-st problem:
At 5 GHz (router menu) if I select any channel number still can't change the channel on the air. I see it at 42 (picture in previous post)
2-d problem:
If DHCP is disabled and there is external DHCP server connected to any LAN port and the GUEST wifi network is activated, users connected to GUEST network doesn't receive IP address from external DHCP.
If I connect to 2.4 or 5 GHz network (with DHCP disabled in the router) there is no problem to obtain IP address from external DHCP server (connected to any LAN port).
3 suggestion:
It will be useful if there is a another column for NOTE in DHCP Address Reservation page to make NOTE about devices. For example:
MAC Address IP Address Status Edit NOTE/DEVICE
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX 192.168.222.50 Enabled Edit iMAC-Alex (this is in NOTE column) (Button "Get device name" and paste it in NOTE cell)
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX 192.168.222.55 Enabled Edit John-PC (this is in NOTE column) (Button "Get device name" and paste it in NOTE cell)
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX 192.168.222.235 Enabled Edit John's GSM (this is in NOTE column) (Button "Get device name" and paste it in NOTE cell)
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX 192.168.222.222 Enabled Edit John's DVR (this is in NOTE column) (Button "Get device name" and paste it in NOTE cell)
If there is button GET Device name from device (if connected) it will be more usefull :)

1. You'd better try a different software to scan the channel...like inSSIDer
2. the C20 is working on router mode or access point mode? is the "allow guests to access local network" checked or not?
3. I agree with you...

1. I will try to change the 5 GHz channel of my Archer C7 with "Android Wifi analyzer" to see the result in the android scanner (I will post the result next week). The
inSSIDer is not free version.
2. The router is in "Router mode". In AP mode there is no "Guest" wifi network. (Or I don't know how to enable it or where is it in the router menu).
- is the "allow guests to access local network" checked or not?
- it is DISABLED.
For the test I enabled the DHCP server in my second router in range 192.168.222.120 - 192.168.222.130. The wi-fi users connected to 2.4GHz, 5 GHz and Guest network obtain IP address from second router. But in this case 2.4 and 5 GHz users of the home (entire) network receive IP addresses in this range. I can do reservation for desired IP addresses, but I have to manage 2 DHCP servers. I would like to obtain IP from the 1-st router (with WAN connected to my ISP). I would like to see all DHCP reservations and active users in my network at one place (page) - at the DHCP server page of the first router C20 .
4. Suggestion
If really no Guest wi-fi network in AP mode (I can't found it) it will be useful to add this option and to obtain IP addresses from DHCP server connected to any LAN port or to have option in DHCP server page: "Enable DHCP only for Guest network"
