Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi all, I have bought a T1500G-8T switch and before configuring it I have downloaded last firmware update from tp-link support site https://www.tp-link.com/it/support/download/t1500g-8t/#Firmware.

So I have downloaded the firmware released on 2020-04-20[¹], decompressed it and followed the instruction find in the zip. During the upgrade I have selected the check box "Reboot the switch using the backup image after upgrading is completed" before pressing the Upgrade button. The upgrade process has begun and when finished the web interface showned a message saying: Rebooting... This may take several minutes. Please wait without any operation". But nothing happens any more. The windows is ever there and if I try to connect to the switch using a new tab the browser can't connect to the switch.

What I have to do now? Do you think I can power off the switch and power on again or powering it off can be a dangerous behaviour?

Piviul

@Piviul, did you change the switch's IP and if so, what IP did you set before the upgrade?

If the System LED blinks at ~1Hz frequency, the switch has finished the reboot and it should be reachable using the IP set previously in the config. But if you forgot to save the config after applying a new IP address before, it now will listen again on the default IP 192.168.0.1.

Before rebooting the switch check whether you can reach it at its default IP. If that doesn't help, I would try a reboot. If something did go wrong during the firmware upgrade, a reboot won't do any more harm hours after the upgrade – in the worst case it is bricked.
