I've recently switched over to TP-Link Omada and its EAP's with the controller.

Just wanted to know if there are any routers that are capable of gigabit WAN connections?

@rjow2021

I got mine on Comet a week before christmas, I live in Northern Ireland.

Looks like box has 1 if you are quick :)

Yeah the new SDN range is very good, Ive just in the last few months bought a full setup of OC200, 2x EAP 245s, 2008P Switch and this fella.. again in advance of FTTP 1GB next few months.  I have always used uniquti stuff for business however... im sold on this gear at the moment given the massive firmware issues with uniquiti

@rjow2021

The new L-R605  has upto 4x 1GB WAN ports so should be able to hand 1GB per port no issue.

I recently purchased this for an upgrade to 1GB WAN in the next few months, hopefully :)

@Philbert Excellent. Just need to see if I can find one in the UK.

They put down fiber lines in our area and I will be upgrading when they switch it on.

I have a MikroTik RB4011 that would handle it, but I'm contemplating complete TP-Link gear for the network.

@Philbert Just ordered the last one, thanks for that link. Appreciated.

A few weeks ago I got fed up with running 2 Asus routers in AP mode for our house. It's was ok, but janky.

Been running two EAP245's and the EAP225 Outdoor for the garden. And with the OC200 this system is great!

So, going to complete it now with the gateway I just ordered.

Thanks once again.

@rjow2021

Nice one, have fun playing around with it! :)

Just a heads up incase you come accross this - I had some issues getting it to adopt (kept failing every time) on the OC200 and burned some time on it.   Long story short under settings-wired networks-LAN   make sure your LAN setup is the same/correct as it will use this to adopt.  I had never needed to set this as, well never used it till I got the router!

My network was all on a 1.x range and I ignored this being set for 0.x range.. kept trying to adopt the router on the wrong 0.x  subnet and obviously failed... one of those silly head scratching moments

Thanks for the tip @Philbert

Have you set up openVPN on the L-R605?

@rjow2021

Yeah set it up and have a few laptops, mobiles connected with no issues.   Just used the certificate provided by the OC200 and imported it into devices, worked perfectly im glad to say.  Hardest bit was working out to how port forward on my ISP router.. !!

Please report back on your wan to lan routing performance, I am interested also.  Looking at the VPN performance stats in the specs I am skeptical that this thing has much power.

@mackworth

Hey

Done some tests while connected to the VPN but sadly limited to my current 80/20 FTTC connection

I ran IPERF3, Speedtest and Surfshark (i had a trial account) while on the VPN from another connection of the same speed (neighbour), all 3x saturated the link averaging 67 down 19 up which is what my actual BT connection gets.

Not sure if that helps any?  I bought this in prep for 900 FTTP in April so hopefully it does scale up smiley
