Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hi,

Would like to ask the T1600G -28 PS would support inter-vlan function ? Detail as follows:

One no of T1600G - 28PS

Two PC, PC1 and PC2

Set Vlan A port, 1/0/1 to 8 with untag mode

Set Vlan B port, 1/0/9 to 16 with untag mode

PC 1 connect in Vlan A    and IP address is  192.168.10.10       255.255.255.0

PC 2 connect in Vlan B    and IP address  is  192.168.20.20       255.255.255.0

I have already Set SVI IP address on VLAN A : 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0 and VLAN B : 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0  and no static route added.

But I still can't ping each other. Anything I am doing wrong ?

Dear @JACKFOK,

If you ping the gateway on the PC, do you get replies successfully? How about ping the other PC in the same VLAN?

If ping doesn't work, you may check the firewall settings on your PCs and ensure the ping request is not blocked.

Dear @JACKFOK,

You may need to add static routing on the switch, please refer to this FAQ.

@Fae

Dear Fae,

Thanks for the help. Your informations is very useful.

Just asking if I decide the network will not need to access Internet, can the T1600 G switch will do the inter-vlan routing by itself only without the help of router ? Thanks.

I believe yes. The T1600G-28PS V3 supports L3 Features-Interface, which is for inter-vlan routing.

Dear Fae,

Once again thank you for your help. If I  refer to this FAQ, and I have the same three nos. of VLAN and L3 interface setting on my T1600G switch.   What about the IPv4 static route setting in the L3 features page? Is it set to 192.168.0.126 as the default VLAN 1 ? Then I can ping it within different VLAN and have response. Thanks.

Regards,

Jack

In the FAQ you read, the static routing is to make all traffic forward to the uplink gateway, thus the devices in different VLANs can talk to the same gateway. If you just want devices can communicate among different VLANs within the switch, no need to configure IPv4 static routing.

@Fae

Hi

After set up the interface ip address in the L3 page and the VLAN conf. in the L2 page. the two PCs which have 2 different VLAN still can't ping each other. And the  PVID is set.  Detail as below

interface vlan 100
 set  ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0

interface vlan 200
  ip address 192.168.200.1 255.255.255.0

interface gigabitEthernet 1/0/1
switchport general allowed vlan 100 untagged
  switchport pvid 100

interface gigabitEthernet 1/0/2
switchport general allowed vlan 200 untagged
  switchport pvid 200

Connect a PC to port 1, set IP address 192.168.100.2/24 for it. Gateway is 192.168.100.1.

Connect a PC to port 2, set IP address 192.168.200.2/24 for it. Gateway is 192.168.200.1.

And no ping happen.

Thanks.
