Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20210113 Rel.35074

Just bouthe R605. The main network (DHCP by the router) is in range 172.16.0.1-200, VPN IP pool is 172.16.1.1-50 - not the same subnet as required by instruction: Instruction. Setup L2TP, User: client to NET, local ip 172.16.0.10. Now the remote device connects to the VPN - L2TP tunel status - Local IP 172.16.0.10 Remote Local IP 172.16.1.50 - looks fine but the connected device cannot be seen by any computer in the existing network not the remote device can see any computers. There is no ping either. the local network uses subnet mask 255.255.0.0 yet teh remote device automatically gets 255.255.255.255. Tried using 192.168.x.x network - did not work. No shared resources can be seen, no RDP connection can be established. Basically the entire VPN part does not work at all.

Any help?

Please read the guide below and check if it helps.

What to do if you cannot access the remote network through Client-to-LAN/Site VPN tunnel

Follow up (if someone else is in the same situation)
First of all I should make it clear that before all this the entire thing WAS already working with different VPN server so...

I created an IP groups specifically for the VPN pool and DHCP pool
+manually added routing policies and firewall policies to allow connection between the newly created groups. - that enabled ping but not sharing

Updated all the Windows machines to latest Windows 10x64 (which turned out to be a huge problem due to different reasons but that's another story)
 +manually adding firewall policies
That solved the issues between PCs. For androids completely different apps were needed (still can't explain why)

and that was supposed to be an easy upgrade of the already working VPN.
