Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.1

Sticker on bottom of case clearly says Ver 1.6*, as does the sticker on the box. P/N: 0121600114
Web UI and Controller software both show it as version 1. In controller:
TRL-R605 v1.0 right next to EAP45(US) v3.0 with the firmware versions in the column over.

*I'll note the sticker seems to be a second layer on top of the original printed label, I haven't attempted to peel it off yet.

Is this "just" a mislabled unit? Shenanigans with reseller or something? (If anyone has info on differences between the hardware versions, that would be ideal.)

@YATechMonkey I returned the R605 yesterday and went back to my old router.

  • The label on the equipment didn't match the ver. on 192.168.0.1
  • HUGE ISSUE -- It kept dropping the internet in both standalone and when connected to Omada (could ping the router, but no internet)
  • Couldn't determine how to set time-based access control individual network devices
  • Standalone access didn't seem to work once adopted in Omada
  • It appeared that firmware updates may only be applied via ip address in standalone mode, but it was difficult to access standalone mode after adopted in Omada,

I upgraded to the "1.6" firmware, 1.0.1 Build 20210113 Rel.35074, without issue. The device now says I have hardware version: TL-R605 v1.0 and firmware version: 1.0.1 Build 20210113 Rel.35074. So far everything seems to be working fine.

@redhed I did the same upgrade, but it kept dropping the www.  (And why would an upgrade result in a ver. 1.0 when the label says 1.6?)  Anyway, maybe I received a bad unit, but after about 6 hours of working with it, I just returned it.

V1.6 is usually sold in the US only, it's equal to V1.0.

@YATechMonkey

I have the same issue and I just unboxed the unit and connected in standalone mode. So should I upgrade the firmware corresponding to hardware version 1.0? Also, on the back label "US" clearly stands for United States, what does "UN" stand for? Thanks
