Hello,

I have a home network with Switch 8p POE Giga da TP link with 5 EAP 245 and a fiber connection of 300mb.
1) I was wondering that if I put a OC200 given its network connection 10/100, I would reduce the speed of the network to 100mb and by consequence cap my internet connection to 100mb?

2) If yes, then the options would be the OC300 or via software installed on a laptop right?

3) When switching off the laptop, will the mesh function stay in the EAP?

Thanks

Hey

This should be easy enough to answer.

I have a home network with Switch 8p POE Giga da TP link with 5 EAP 245 and a fiber connection of 300mb.

No.  The controller LAN port is only used for communication between the EAPs (Switches, APs etc) and the controller.   Roughly 100mb per day I find.  This has no effect on the switching capacity

2) If yes, then the options would be the OC300 or via software installed on a laptop right?

Honestly, I would always recommend the OC200 for sites with less then 50 APs

3) When switching off the laptop, will the mesh function stay in the EAP?

If you are running the Controller on the Laptop, then YES it will fail once the controller is offline.   Mesh and Roaming requires an active controller

@Philbert thanks. So you are definitely sure that one OC200 won't limit my capacity in using the 300mb of my internet bandwith?

100% It's not used for traffic throughput, simply the management of the devices.  The only traffic that will go through the 10/100 port is updates, config and heartbeats from your managed devices, all "internet" traffic will stay on the switch.

I have 1gbps down / 250 up running here with an OC200 as I type this

I also have the oc200 running. No problem at all. As Philbert describes it is only just to manage stuff. Not processing your internet/network data. You should of course not place it inline between the internet connection and the rest of the network.
