Ethernet connection speed EAP660 HD
Is anyone experiencing an issue with the Ethernet connection speed on an EAP660 HD?
I'm connecting directly from my TL-SG2210MP switch using a Cat8 cable, to the antenna. I'm also utilising the power from the PoE switch interface, (7.9w)
The length of the Cat8 cable is approximately 18 metres.
I should be getting a minimum of 1000 Mbps, but on the router it shows I'm only getting 10/100 Mbps.
The EAP 660 HD has a 2.5 Gbps port.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To better assist you, how much broadband does your ISP give you?
If you actually use the speedtest website to do a speed test, does it show normal?
If not, what is the link speed of the back-end clients?
You could try a shorter cable to test.
May I know what is the model number of your router and could you please send a screenshot to show your problem?

Do you mean 660 failed to negotiate the port speed to 1000Mbps?

Hi
I have a fibre connection and is true 10000 Mbps
My router is a TP-Link TL-SG2210MP with Ethernet PoE+
Even though the PoE on the 660 HD said it is capable of 2.5 Gbps, my test to the switch only comes back to me at about 12Mbps standing under the antenna.
My 660 is on Port 4

Yes. I've looked in all the settings and there isn't any port speeds been set as far as I can see.

Hi @xmtr34,
Is that a commercially terminated (and tested) patch cable? Or was it self terminated? Are you using any keystones, couplers, punchdowns, etc?
My EAP660's work just fine and negotiate 1000 Mbit/s speeds using a wide variety of commercially made (most are Tripp-Lite) Category 5e, 6, and 6A patch cables.
I don't have any multi-gig switches to test. My 10G switches are 10/100/1000/10K only.
For what it's worth, I'm mostly using midspan power injectors. So that's two commercial patch cables between the switch and the EAP.
Generally speaking, ethernet speed negotiation issues are almost always cable/termination related (or distance related -- which is not the case for 18 meters)

Yes, all my cables are pre terminated and I have tested them all. I also tried it on another cable directly from the front of the switch it's self.
I can only put it down now to the antenna.
These are costly to buy and it's a potty I don't have another to test with. It is under warranty but trying to get it replaced via the TP-Link fault process is not easy.
Anyhow, I'll give it a go.

Here are some troubleshooting steps for your reference.
1. Make sure the port on the front switch is working properly.
You may disconnect the EAP from the front end and connect a different device to SG2210MP with the same cable and port for speed testing to see if it can negotiate a normal speed.
2. Replace the front end of the EAP and test whether the EAP port can negotiate with other devices, e.g. connect the EAP to another switch or router to test
3. It is strongly recommended to use a short cable for testing.

Thanks for the good tips.
I've now tested the port on the TL-SG2210MP by connecting my EAP225 Outdoor and immediately got the expected 1000Mbps from the port, proving the port is good. I then connected my EAP660 HD to a spare port on my TL SG-2008P and again only received the 10/100 Mbps from this switch.
I then disabled the PoE+ power from this port and powered up the 660 with the supplied power supply and then I received 1000Mbps.
This would be a good fix I think if my antenna was mounted on a suspended ceiling where I could install a power socket, but it isn't and there is no way of running an external power supply near to where my antenna is mounted. I could move my antenna, but this would cause me issues elsewhere.
I guess this may be an antenna fault???
So I'm guessing your EAP660 HD runs happily at 1000Mbps with the PoE+ supplying 7.5w???

Did you try CAT5E instead of any cables above CAT6?
I came across a forum link and read that when CAT6 supports 10Gbps speed, its twisted pairs have issues with the PoE. Either not powering up or cause unstable connection.

Thanks for that info. That's a really good heads up for any future issues I may have. I was using cat8 flat cable so there's no twisted pairs on that. I ended up with TP-Link support, getting a new unit as they accessed my network and did some very good intrusive testing. We decided it was the antenna.
So far so good with the new one. Let's hope so.🤞
