Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.01

I’m new to networking so would appreciate some help with the setup of a TP-Link ER605.

Work pays for my internet and have a deal with the ISP and are only willing to pay for it if I use this ISP.  This ISP provides a modem that also provides home phone service (I’m assuming some sort of VOIP), the details of the home phone service are loaded on the modem and the ISP will not share the details.  The modem has a WAN port used to connect to the internet, a RJ11 for the phone and multiple LAN ports.

The problem is that the DHCP server on the modem only allows 16 devices to connect to it.  I need more than this so have bought a TP-Link ER605 to act as my DHCP server.

I tried a few different configurations but cannot get everything to work.  Diagrams of what I have tried are below (red lines indicate connected to WAN port, green line indicates connected to RJ11, yellow lines indicate connected to LAN port).

Is there a way I can set this up to have everything working?

Please let me know if I need to provide further information.

Diagram #2

Give the “ISP Modem” an IP address from a different subnet than ER605 is in, say 192.168.1.1, and enable its DHCP server.

Hi Kris,

Thanks for your reply.  Makes complete sense, I tried what you suggested but could not initially get it to work.  I had to enable the "Unicast DHCP" setting in the Omada "Settings->Wired Networks->Internet" section.  Now it's all working.

Really appreciate your help, thanks for the solution.

Attached diagram of the working solution (may help someone else).
