Im upgrading a computer network: Router is an TL-R605, to which a 16 port SG1016DE is connected. Cabling remains identical.

when I connect Synology NAS to to the switch, the port (in autodetect) is set to 100MBps, instead of 1000MBps. On the old network (same cabling, other router and switch), the NAS worked fine at 1Gbps.

 

I did the following tests:

  1. change patch cable between NAS and switch: issue remains
  2. unplug cable from NAS and connect it to computer: computer gets 1000Mbps connection
  3. unplug the cable from the switch, and plug it directly in one of the ports of the TL-R605 router: NAS connection becomes 1Gbps.
  4. try NAS on other port of the switch: connection is 100Mbps.
  5. force port to 1000Mbps, instead of autodetect. 'Config speed' is reported as '1000MF', but 'actual' is shown as '100MF'. (see screenshot in attachment)

Reported speed is verified both on nas and on website of the switch.

A potentially similar issue happens with a raspberry pi, who is seen as 10MBps, where it should be 100MBps (and it was 100MBps with same cabling and old switch)

 

For me, the tests show that this is not a cabling issue. Anyone an idea on what is going wrong?

Looks like a firmware bug..likely since this looks to be the first version of firmware for this new v6 hardware revision.  Hank21 do you agree?

Firmware BUG.....Maybe.

You can downgrade the firmware back to the original one for testing.

 

I thought you can enable Flow control to test again.

He's got a V6 and his firmware is 1.0.0...there is no downgrade :)

First of all, the version numbering and options are not very clear, both for the hardware and software.

 

For the hardware, there is a sentence on the website saying:

The admin page of the switch says:

The drop down menu of the website says:

Version 6.0 is not in the list, so I opted for V6.

Given the first image, it seems that a V6.0 equals a V6.6, but a 6.6 has not the same entry as a v6 in the download section.

 

For the software, it is somewhat unusual to work with a build number in addition to a version number for software available to clients, but anyhow...

 

I tried a downgrade to TL-SG1016DE(UN) V6_1.0.0 Build 20220825, but it is simply not working:

Based on the information that in most cases, Vx.0=Vx.6, I took the risk to install a version for V6.6. The firmware installs, but the issue seems to remain present.

Hi, it seems like the switch has a hardware issue, have you contacted tplink support team?
