IPv6 EAP690E (and EAP670)
IPv6 EAP690E (and EAP670)
Good day,
I have an EAP690E HD and an EAP670 with a virtual controller on a virtual machine.
So far everything works fine, except IPv6. For the price of the EAP 690, I don't understand why IPv6 doesn't work. Other APs for less money have this under control.
With the EAP 670, IPv6 only works with beta software and with the EAP690 not at all. When is there an improvement in sight?

Hello @PC_SG,
It seems that you're having IPv6 related issue on the EAP690E.
TP-Link has provided a Beta firmware to fix the issue urgently, please check the following post for details.
EAP650/EAP655-Wall | EAP650 | EAP670 | EAP653 May Drop Some IPv6 Packets. [Updated on May 19th 2023]
You may take your time to upgrade the beta firmware and confirm the issue you encountered has been resolved.

@PC_SG given that on the EAP650 this was reported back in September 2022 and there isn't a non-beta firmware with the issue fully fixed, I'm worried even for those there's no real improvement in sight.

With the beta firmware from this site
EAP650/EAP655-Wall | EAP650 | EAP670 | EAP653 May Drop Some IPv6 Packets. [Updated on May 19th 2023]
IPv6 works with both APs
(small note: it would be practical if the beta firmware from the EAP670 had a higher version number than the official firmware, then the controller would not always want to update...)

You're right. Overall, there needs to better organization and communications with regards to these betas (and why they aren't being moved to "official release"). Soon it will be a full year that some of these firmware releases have been in beta...why is that? We were promised this beta f/w "stall" would be looked into months ago and never got an answer. Makes it hard and confusing to recommend TPL products when you have to footnote..."good APs, but install the beta firmware".

@PC_SG Same problem here. In October of 2023.

Hi @alexindigo,
What is the model number and firmware version of your EAPs?
Here is the Beta firmware of some EAPs for your reference.

@Hank21 I installed Beta software from May 2023 (it shows as version 1.0.3), and it fixed (some of the) issues, but release version is still broken with bugs that looks like were reported a year ago.
So AirPrint is working now for wireless clients (before it was only working for wired clients),
but HomeKit still can't add accessories like HomeAssistant, or Eufy cameras.

@Hank21 Also that beta firmware that you linked says it for other models, not for 690.
