Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I purchased the ER605 in order to expand the number of LAN ports of my main router (ASUS AXE11000). I configured it in the standard manner, i.e. connected its WAN port to one of my my main router's LAN ports, dedicated IP addres (DHCP) etc. Everythig works fine except that I cannot access the ER605's Web interface from the WAN side, nor can I SSH into any of the ER605's LAN clients. Basically the ER605 LAN is invisible from the WAN side.

What am I doing wrong? I figured that at the very least I should be able to access its Web interface from the WAN side ...

What would be the best/most elegant way to configure the ER506 for the use case described above?

  @RedeemerOfSouls

Return the ER605 and buy a basic 5 or 8 port ethernet switch instead (like the $25 SG108 device).

What you have done is create a second level of NAT'ing, forcing everything on the LAN side of the ER605 to be accessed via port-forwarding through the IP assigned by the ASUS to the ER605's WAN port.

If you don't want to return it, you could configure it as 1WAN/4LAN, ignore the WAN, connect 1 LAN port to your ASUS, disable DHCP on the LAN subnet of the ER605 but that would only buy you 2 'extra' ports overall...not very efficient.

  @d0ugmac1, done, thank you! I went for the SG108, as you suggested. As for the ER605, I can't return it anymore, but I am sure I can put it to good use some other way.
