Hi

Is it possibel to set up a Wireless network SSID wthin the Omada controller that would allow a device to connect to either an EAP225 or 245 with a specified DNS, and not the one stipulated by the internet provider.

If possible advice on how to do this would be very welcome.

Mant thanks

Yes!  Set a custom DNS ip on the subnet definition used by the SSID.

Hi, Many thanks for your reply.

I have looked through the SSID settings and can't see anywhere to add IP or DNS details.

Would you please be kind enough to give me a more detailed guide on how to do this within the Omada controller.

Thanks, very much appreciate your assistance.

You set the DNS for the LAN subnet you are using for the SSID, not the in the SSID definition.

So, in the controller, Wired networks-》LAN

Will post a screen grab.

@d0ugmac1 Hi, thanks for the reply.

Despit setting the Google DNS address in the LAN settings my devices are still picking up the sky routers preset DNS.

What am I missing?

I have four SSIDs, four eap 225 and a sky router. I am trying not to use Skys DNS as  it is believed to be blocking a thermostat from connecting.

My phone still gets the 192.168.0.1 DNS from the router. Why is it not getting the DNS from the Omada LAN setting? All help welcomed

New settings are passed by DHCP, which won't happen until a device renews its lease based on the lease duration, or is rejoined to network. Suggest you reboot your router to force all devices to re-attach with your new settings.

@d0ugmac1 The router has been rebooted. How do I make devices pick up their DNS settings form the LAN settings in the Omada controller rather than the router?

Ahah!  You don't have an Omada router...so of course the Omada DHCP settings would not take!  You need to configure the DHCP settings sent by the Sky router directly in that case to use custom DNS. Again whatever controls the IP assignment, controls the DNS settings.

Lifted direct from a reddit post since I cannot link it directly on this forum:

If anyone on SKY UK is being blocked from accessing certain sites or unable to load certain addons, this will help you even though SKY will tell you that this can't actually be done ( liars ).

If posted in the wrong place I apologise and feel free to delete it.

Log in to your router by typing 192.168.0.1 in to the address bar of your browser and press enter.

Go to 'Maintanance' - 'Backup Settings'

Under 'Save a copy of current settings' click 'Backup' and save the file to somewhere you'll be able to find it.

Using Notepad++ ( download this if you don't have it already ) look for this line;

<DNSServers>90.207.238.97,90.207.238.99</DNSServers>

Change this to the DNS you want, Google DNS is 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4 and save the file.

Return to the router page under 'Maintanance' - 'Backup Settings'

'Restore saved settings from a file' - click 'choose file' and select the config you just edited.

Press 'Restore'

The router will reboot and you'll be using Google DNS instead of the stock SKY.

@d0ugmac1 It's not possible for me to alter the sky routers DNS settings.

I was hoping to be able to configure an individual SSID to use an alternative to skys.
