Hello

 

We have a TP-LINK tl-sg108s connected to a router and then is connected to

 

- computer

- raspberry

- controller 1

- controller 2

 

We are experience problems because time to time we can have access to all the equipment except to controller 1

 

And this happens in 2 different installations

 

 

And after we reboot the controller 1, everything works fine.

 

The controller is from a reputable brand and they already informed that NEVER this happens.

 

It seems that is something related to the TPLINK

How do you conclude this?

I don't have any suggestions for you if you say so. At least do some tests before pointing fingers. Troubleshooting Techniques for Laymen

The most basic ping, please share the results on your verification.

 

Move this controller 1 to your router's LAN. Test it out.

 

My server was disconnecting every few days even though it was showing connected and having valid IP addresses. I can ping GW but no Internet. DNS is not to blame. Just behaved so strangely and I cannot locate it from the hardware or networking level. I was using an unmanaged switch as well. I was gonna point fingers to my switch. But it is not. LOL. It's the stupid driver on my server which is old and buggy. (Though I downloaded them from the motherboard's official support site. It is just too old and they did not update the driver because it is a third-party NIC.) Updated it from NIC official support site and this issue never happened.

There isn't too much I can do for an unmanaged switch.

Either it is a hardware issue or your config issue.

Let's say it is a hardware issue, it should not appear on a single port. Right? The switch controller(chipset responsible for switching data between the ports) for Ethernet should not fail just on a single port. There is no config on the switch. So we don't even think about this direction

 

Then you can rule this out by trying this controller 1 on different ports. Right?

My question: does it still behave like this if you switch the port position on your controller 1? This has to be answered or I cannot continue.

Second: Port LED is on or off when you experience the ping issue?

 

Thirdly, the question was asked by me in the previous reply, did you test controller 1 on your router's LAN? Will it behave like what you are experiencing on the switch? An unreachable issue?

 

If you avoid these questions, I don't think I need to reply any further as it is pointless and wasting time to locate the issue. It is key to rule out the possibility of either a config/controller/Ethernet cable issue or a switch malfunction.
