Aha! Yes, I will be doing it next year as well. The charity committee were very appreciative of our efforts, including your help and advice too. I learnt absolutely tons of stuff from this project, and identified quite a few mistakes over the show weekend and several settings improvements for next year (eg. beacon rates/intervals, transmit power).

Power outage in one section of the site caused problems due to undesired mesh failover. You warned me about this. It happened and was confusing and difficult to correct (until I figured what happened and how to fix).

Cabling, I had never heard of CCA cable before! That totally f****d up the system! Brand new Copper Clad Aluminium cable on long runs is the spawn of the devil. It caused major problems. Wasted a lot of time and money. Has been binned. Had to replace it with pure copper, grrr! I thought all ethernet cables were full copper, schmuck.

Eap650 Tx power settings too high caused interference/high utilisation on 2.4ghz, high association errors on connections. I decided to ditch 2.4ghz entirely, enabled 5ghz for access (not just backhaul). All the complaints about "we can't connect" went away.

A couple of traders were taking the mickey with large downloads /video. They got banned as per our T&Cs.

There is more but I hope to detail all this in a separate post. Despite the initial problems, things improved by the end of the first day, and feedback from the traders after the weekend was that we had a better more reliable wifi than other showground events like Revesby, Sandringham and Chatsworth!

Cheers Jim
