MESH : Omada or Deco?

Good day everyone, we are building mesh for our factory use.
I wonder what is the different between Omada-Mesh & Deco-Mesh?
we use to have multiple fiber ISP.

Deco-Plan:
multiple ISP XXX-MODEM (dhcp-off)
connect to ER605 as our main router
then connect multiple POE switches for lan distribute
add Deco X50-Outdoor around 20 units.
this covers multiple buldings with offices, warehouses & floors.
Q1: can the Deco mesh that much of units?
Q2: vs Omada-mesh?

Omada-Plan:
multiple ISP XXX-MODEM (dhcp-off)
connect to ER706W as our main router
then connect multiple POE switches for lan distribute
add EAP650-Outdoor around 19 units.
this covers multiple buldings with offices, warehouses & floors.
Q3: Can I use/register every units to Omada app without OC200?
Q4: Can I controll devices in Omada app without OC200?
Q5: should i really need to get OC200? if yes, what will be setup diagram for this unit?

Hi  @SUNSONIC

Both ER605 v2 and ER706W are compatible with OC300. You can use any Omada SDN gateway.

For EAP mesh, if you are planning to use POE switch to power on the EAP units, no mesh is needed, just use fast roaming function. It will provide a better performance than mesh.

  @SUNSONIC

Go buy a OC300...

I would go  with the Omada side of thing, if you're expecting a high level of client count.  If you're expecting high client count, I would go with the 670.  That will give you a bit more horsepower.

I would also make sure you buy the ER605 V2.

How many Units are you planning on Meshing?  I wouldnt go over 4 hops.  From 1 AP.

Hi,
Q1: why ER605 v2? for OC300 compatibility?
if ER605 will need 20 units EAPs,
but if ER706W (main mesh?) will use 19 units EAPs.

You mean 1 AP mesh with 4 nodes
Q2: is that the maximum number of mesh nodes in omada?

Q3: will OC300 compatible with ER706W?

ER605 V1 is EOL.

Every hop you do you cut the bandwidth in half to maintaine the speed between the mesh.  If you hop 19 APs away, you will have wireless and speed issues.  It's best to hardwire as many APs as you can.  Then mesh 4 hops away.  4 hops is just a good guessimate for a stable connection during heavy load.

Agree on router change...and ER605v2 is a good choice as the other is the ER7206 but it is getting old product-wise.  All the other routers don't seem to get the love/attention from TPlink that those two do.

Ditto on the OC300, the OC200 no longer has adequate specs for the latest controller versions.  There is also reportedly an OC400 now.  Alternatively, spin up the free Linux controller (4GB RAM 2+ cores) on a VM/container in your local IT room.

650-outdoor is a good choice.  How many of them will be wired though?  You need to think about where the wire drops are for the root AP(s), and where the sub-APs will be located.  Wire as many as you can!  I recommend no more than 2 hops or 2 neighbours for any AP.  In generall a logical string works best...ie AP1---AP2---RootAP---AP3---AP4.  For your design you need at least 4 of these configs (ie 4 x 5 = 20) and at least 4 switched POE+ ports.
