Hi,

I'm looking for some support please.

I have wifi in the house via Sky broadband. I have not got full coverage in the house so I got an access point to improve coverage away from the Sky router.

I have installed the new access point. I now have my original SSID, plus a new name (SSID) for the additional access point. On my desktop computer I can scan either network and locate both wifi SSID's. They both work as normal as you would expect, which to me means that the accessing pont is working well?

However, when I use my laptop, I can scan and find both wifi SSID's. When using the original network (SSID), I have normal speed and it works well. The problem I have is when using the new SSID via the access point, it connects but is painfully slow to download.

I have tried a load of things but just cannot get the laptop to work well on the access point. I removed all the secuirity software to see if it was blocking it somehow, but just cannot see why the laptop is so slow on the access point. I have even managed to get a second laptop now to test and the same is happening. I'm confused as the access point functions as normal when using the desktop, but not when using either laptop.

I thought it was a setting on the laptop, but not sure now. I have also reset the access point as well, but still no change.

Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated.  thank you

Hi  @Richard6766

How slow was the laptop exactly? What device was the original SSID from? An old EAP110, or router from your Internet service provider?

If you're suffering a slow speed issue with the EAP devices, you may try the following tips:
     1. Please use https://www.speedtest.net or the speedtest APP/CLI (https://www.speedtest.net/apps) for testing speed accurately.
     2. Make sure the wireless client and the EAP are not too far away from each other, make sure the client is connected to the correct/nearest EAP.
     3. Make sure other clients are not running huge traffic when you are testing speed, you may change the wireless SSID temporarily to disconnect other clients.
     4. Performing a wireless optimization might help, please refer to this FAQ to perform a wireless optimization for your EAPs: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2511/

When using the speed test (which I was trying before) it is unable to complete the test. The router is new and from Sky. The EAP 110 is new also. There is no other heavy traffic on the system (its in my home with just two of us).
