I bought the VIGI NVR 1104-4P last 7 July 2024. I also bought a Seagate SkyHawk 4Tb SATA HDD (ST4000VX016; 5900 rpm/CMR) with 256 Mb cache. Installation of the HDD was fast & the LAN easily recognized the video recorder. However, the HDD failed after 3 months. When checking the recording from the NVR the status is "uninitialized" and noted a remark "Format". I did this several times but the HDD did not read/write. I even download and install the latest firmware but to no avail.  So I returned it the Seagate distributor in the Philippines and hope that they will replace it. I read that Seagate Skyhawk HDDs has a relatively high failure rate compared with Western Digital (WD). I am thinking of buying WD, however, I read that Toshiba SATA HDD particularly S300 has low failure rate. I would like to solicit TP-Link & users' view on the matter.
