Dear Community,

after walking through multiple How-Tos, Tutorials, Videos, Community Threads here and many more reddit pages, I am still not able to get a Multi-VLAN setup with separate DHCP working. I read some time that people just reset all devices and it is working, and sometimes it will remain unresolved or the solution was not posted.

I hope there is no typo or config error what I made, but please allow me to describe what I would like to setup:

Devices:

1x ER605 v2.0 2.2.6 Build 20240718 Rel.82712
1x EAP610-Outdoor(EU) v1.0 1.3.1 Build 20240828 Rel. 83596
2x EAP653(EU) v1.0 1.1.0 Build 20240830 Rel. 50868
2x SG2008P v3.20 3.20.1 Build 20240115 Rel.72847

Topology

I have the ER605 where my WAN Uplink is connected to WAN Port and on LAN1 and LAN2 i have connected the 2 Smart Switches.

WAN -> ER605 -> __LAN1 -> SG2008P(1) -> EAP653(1) & EAP610 Outdoor

WAN -> ER605 -> __LAN2 -> SG2008P(2) -> EAP653(2)

Target Setup

I would like to have 2 different networks with ACLs in between. The ACLs i keep untouched until DHCP and routing is working as expected.

Config:

Wired Networks -> LAN -> Networks:

HomeNET(Default): 10.0.66.254 / 24

TestVLAN: 10.0.107.254 / 24

Wired Networks -> LAN -> Switch Profiles -> ALL:

Wireless Networks -> WLAN:

Irrespective what I do, but I do not receive any IP Address from the DHCP Server of the TestVLAN network.

On the SSID Settings I tried to chaning to "By VLAN ID" instead of "By Network" - also not working.

Everything is working fine when I work with Manual IP on the end devices, but not getting any Addresses assigned.

It should be - based on the official documentation - so simple. What do i miss here?

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi  @SirSchnitzl

Might there be something Software-Related to not use 107 as VLAN ID? Or something else?

>>>I don't think so. I tested just now, and I can get an IP in 10.0.107.2 successfully and have internet access. See below:

And this is my config:

If you don't mind, you may reset and try again. But I would recommend using a different VLAN ID, it's less work this way.

From the provided screenshots, the config is correct.

What IP adderss will you get when connecting to the testvlan SSID? the IP in the default VLAN, or invalid IP 169.254.x.x?

This time, you may create a new test VLAN, given it VLAN ID 20, and see if the same issue persists.

To avoid any mistake, you can check all the LAN Interfaces when creating the test vlan.

  @Vincent-TP

Hi Vincent,

Thanks a lot for your reply -> I did some tests now:

(Screenshots below)

  • VLAN 20 - as you suggested - working "in the second" without any issues.

I created 2 other VLANs also:

  • VLAN 55 - working as expected
  • VLAN 111 - working as expected

... But ...

  • VLAN 107 - same issues as before.

Might there be something Software-Related to not use 107 as VLAN ID? Or something else?

Thanks a lot!

  @Vincent-TP Thank you.

I see - looks like some main issue is going on here with the VLAN 107 - as I saw sooo many articles in the community and around the web with the same issue - but most of them had a IOT VLAN set to 107.

If there is a chance that you report this to the development team this would be fantastic.

Else - anyway - thanks for the confirmation that the config I do is correct and in the meantime I go with a different VLAN ID. Maybe I do a reset some time.

Thanks again and take care!
