Firmware Update Procedure
I recently purchased two ER605 (UN) Ver: 2.6 VPN routers. I would like to know which newer firmware version is safe for me to flash to the current 2.0.0 Build currently installed?
I really wish not to lose my current configuration or brick the units.
Regards

Hi,
As far as I know, all officially published FW are tested and working on the device. The thing you need to make sure when downloading the firmware is to choose proper version os the FW and region of your device (or use universal/Global one). Otherwise the upgrade may end up with error message (but I don't thing it will brick it or something.
Make also sure to follow all notes that were included in FW update description.
As far as I remember, on some FW updates there is clear information that you HAVE TO make sure that HTTPS of the Gateway portal is ENABLED, or else you won't be able to login into router after upgrade, for example:
Hope it helps,
Cheers.

Hi @MPDCMPO3212
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
2.0.0 is the very first firmware. Any new batch since 2.1.2 is pre-installed with the 2.1.2.
You should upgrade to 2.1.2 before upgrading to anything after the said version.
HTTPS is required as well.

Oh, and keep in mind that you can always make a config backup before you upgrade. So in case of any issues, after forced factory reset or something, you will be able to restore all settings at once with simple import.

My second ER605 (UN) has FV 2.1.2 however 2.2.6 and 2.2.5 attempts have failed. HTTPS is enabled and the router is only connected to my laptop for configuration. I have transfered the updates to an external drive and the drive on the computer, no difference. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I am unable to locate FW 2.1.2 to flash my ER605 that has FW 2.0.0 that was suggested 2.1.2 must be installed for it to be further updated. As stated earlier my second ER605 has 2.1.2 but the updated FW fails.

Hi,
Try to upgrade the device to 2.2.3 version first. I've seen somewhere on this forum that there was an issue upgrading to 2.2.6 from older version than 2.2.3
Here's a link to update post where you can download fw:

Let me know if that worked :)

Skipping too many versions may cause a problem as every build is based on the last update.
As Raru recommended. Try that out.
